I don’t believe that for a second. But I can handle the Dullahans.

???

I’m not sure how I ended up hosting the Dullahans on my patio. Then again, nothing has quite made sense since I learned Aurora was Billy’s daughter. But Billy wants a meeting. Wants to see with his own eyes that Aurora is alive and well. Apparently, a video chat won’t suffice.

Unfortunately, since Da won’t approve of this request, we meet at my house without his knowledge. I want to keep the peace for Aurora’s sake, so I agreed. With a few conditions of my own. Billy’s only allowed two men present aside from his asshole son.

I invited Killian and Theo here as backup, along with Nick and two guys he swears are trustworthy.

I’m clutching Aurora’s hand under the table. Drinking scotch and staring down Billy. Her smile stretches across her face. It’s bright, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. Instead, tension fills those beautiful blue eyes of hers. Theo and Killian are at the bar on the other side of the pool, alongside Aurora’s asshole brother.

Theo and Killian are drinking whiskey. They’re relaxed in their element. In contrast, Liam looks even more like white trash here than he did back at the clubhouse. His worn Dullahans’ jacket appears more beat up next to Killian and Theo’s tailored suits.

“As you can see, Aurora is fine,” I say through clenched teeth. “Is that all?”

Billy’s smile does a poor job masking his righteous fury. He leans across the table, fists clenched like he’s gearing up to throw a punch. “I want to hear it from her.”

In my periphery, I can see Aurora’s stare at her lap. She squirms uncomfortably as if she wants to sink into the floor. She’s probably praying they don’t find out I was inside of her just last night.

But then she squeezes my hand tight, and I realize she doesn’t want a war anymore than I do. To my surprise, she shifts closer, angling her body towards mine. A hint of her sweet fragrance washes over me. I don’t think she’s conscious of how close we are. A possessive pride fills me at the thought.

“I’m fine, dad,” Aurora says quietly. Doing her best to be reassuring. Convincing.

Billy’s scowl deepens. “Now you listen here -”

He’s cut off by the sound of curses and a blow landing. I look up in time to catch the tail-end of one Dullahan punching Killian in the face.

Killian.

Our future leader.

Fucking hell. Damn Dullahans. Did Aurora tell them she’s not in danger? Fuck, why didn’t I think she would tell them?

But when I glance at Aurora, I see there’s a flash of genuine fear in her eyes. Shit, maybe I’m wrong. And maybe, just maybe, things between us have changed. Before the thought can take root, Killian straightens up and punches the biker back, starting a brawl.

Chapter 22

Aurora

I sit there for a second as a major fight breaks out. Hell, who am I kidding? It’s a brawl.

Killian is fighting Hayden. Liam stops Theo from intervening in the fight. Even dad has joined the fray. Caine tackles him when he lunges for Killian.

I don’t know how to stop the insanity, but I’m pretty sure I can count on dad, Caine and Liam to listen to me. I sprint toward Liam, who is grappling with Theo. I latch onto his arm and pull it back. Theo takes the opportunity to get to his feet.

Liam moves back, squaring off with Theo. Liam’s covered in blood and there’s a vicious set to his shoulders that tells me he’s at his worst. He’ll keep fighting until there’s no one left. But his eyes warm a fraction when he sees it’s me.

“Get out of here,” he snarls.

“No!” I snap.

Liam pushes me aside and aims another blow at Theo.

Shaking my head, I start shoving my way towards dad and Caine.

Caine throws his arm back to punch dad. I step between them, snaking my hand around his wrist. I tug, turn, and hip-toss him to the ground.

“Enough!” I shout.
