Thirty minutes later, Blake was sitting on Niev’s couch with her next to him. She was cuddled up in a blanket, leaning against his shoulder. She’d turned on one of her favorite movies and had her eyes glued to the screen.

After dinner they’d cleaned up the dishes together, only exchanging a few words here and there. They’d spent most of the dinner in silence, which hadn’t bothered him at all. He’d appreciated her gesture of silence, giving themselves space while still being with each other.

After sharing a tiny glimpse of his family, he hadn’t wanted to risk sharing even more. Every bit of information that he shared with her could be used to puzzle the truth about him and his family together. Keeping his family a secret was of utmost importance.

Yet, he was glad he’d opened up to her. It had forged a path of trust between them, and she’d opened up herself about her upbringing. He’d been surprised to hear that she’d separated from her family. It saddened him that she seemed to be all alone without any kind of familial support. It of course, showed her strength and her survivor skills, but it also showed how truly alone she must feel at times.

He studied her closely. Her hair was up in a messy bun. She looked pale, and though right now her eyes were full of joy, they had dark rings underneath them. She looked as if she’d had a rough time lately.

She’d lived her life believing she was human, not even suspecting that other creatures existed–creatures like himself. He wasn’t sure what she was, but she was definitely not human. If it was true what she said, and he knew it was, she was anything but human. Jumping off a cliff multiple times and surviving it without a scratch to show for it was definitely supernatural.

After she’d told him about the cliff, he’d gone and searched for it. He knew the woods better than anyone, so he’d had a vague idea of where to go. After finally finding the right cliff, he’d been shocked by what he’d found. Though the rain had washed away all visible evidence of her torture, the whole earth had smelled of her blood. It was so intense it had made him sick. He hadn’t been able to stay longer than a few minutes.

At that point, he’d known that she had a chance of being accepted into his pack. It was a very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. He hoped that her being supernatural would help convince his father to accept her. Her being at odds with her family could also prove to be helpful. He felt horrible for thinking this way, but he was thankful that she’d cut ties to her family. If she ever wanted to be with him, she wouldn’t have to decide between him and her own family. It could be helpful to her decision making.

“Are you staying the night?” Niev’s warm voice drew him back to the present.

“If you let me, I’ll stay.”

“Well, where do you want to sleep?” A blush crept up her neck, slowly covering her cheeks. “I can get you a blanket but…” Now her whole face was red. “You can also sleep in my bed if you like.”

She tilted her head down, biting her lip, looking as adorable as ever. He loved that she was shy, yet still a little bit bold. With a finger under her chin, he leaned closer, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

“The closer to you the better, beautiful,” he said before stealing a kiss.

Her lips felt hot and soft on his as she instantly reciprocated his kiss, grabbing his neck to pull him closer. With his hands on her hips, he picked her up and sat her on his lap, spreading her legs to either side of him. The warm feeling he’d felt before spread from her skin, through his whole being and deep into his heart. Her lips moved eagerly against his, her heart racing within her chest.

Only when he felt breathless himself did he pull back, allowing her–allowing them both–to breathe again. Needing to feel more of her warm, soft skin, he pushed his hands past her shirt and caressed her bare spine with his fingertips.

“I’ve barely spent time with you, yet I miss you every minute I’m not around you,” he admitted.

Still trying to catch her breath, she combed her fingers through his hair. Her dreamy eyes resting on him, her smile beamed down at him.

“I feel the same. I can’t even explain it and I know it sounds crazy but everyday I don’t speak to you seems like a waste.”

“It’s not crazy,” he reassured her. “It’s like my every thought takes me back to you.”

He couldn’t help but feel relieved that she felt just as strongly for him as he did for her. Never in a million years would he have thought to fall for someone this intensely.

She leaned forward again and laid her lips on his. Their lips moved lovingly, yet still demanding as her fingers gripped his hair tighter, pulling him closer. The warmth coming from her turned into heat and he could hear her heart pounding in her chest.

Hesitantly moving her pelvis closer to his, she gently rubbed over his growing erection. He groaned, pleased that she wanted him just as much as he did her. He slid his hand to her waist and pulled her even closer, reassuring her that she wasn’t acting against his wishes. Her hips started circling eagerly, rubbing and caressing his now stiff dick.

Forcing himself to back out of the kiss, he whispered, “Niev, we don’t have to do this. I won’t be upset if we don’t take it further.”

He wanted her–needed her, was dying to touch her smooth skin and taste her all over. But he also wanted her to know that he wouldn’t force himself on her.

“I know and appreciate your words, but I might die if we don’t,” she said breathlessly before pulling his lips back into hers.

Fuck,he groaned to himself. Her words already had his dick twitching, what would it feel like to truly be with her?

With her pelvis against his he stood up, allowing her to wrap her legs around his waist. With large, eager strides he carried her to her bedroom. The kiss still going, he opened her door where he was hit with the mouth-watering scent of vanilla. He could smell her lust and it aroused him like nothing had before. His heat turned into a burning wildfire, his hard erection pressing against her. He gently laid her on the bed and freed himself from her lips.

As he looked down and admired her, his wolf started to hum in the back of his mind. Not wanting to alarm her–or spill his secrets–he pushed his wolf to the far back of his mind.

“What is it?” she asked, a hint of insecurity in her tone.

“I was just admiring you.”
