Prologue

Looking back on the past few weeks, Niev couldn’t help but to be amazed at how much her life had changed. Her life had gone full circle, and changed from an ordinary one, to a life in a dream world. Who would’ve ever thought that she’d be pregnant with twins and have a strong man by her side. Blake, unlike herold life, was no ordinary man. He was gentle, loving, understanding–and a werewolf.

She’d gone through so much in so little time that it was hard to process it all.

It all started on an ordinary night a few weeks ago. Her life rapidly changed from there on. She was no longer the woman she’d known. She’d discovered her ability to heal in an unbelievably quickmanner. She hadn’t seen anything like it before, and it was something she still had trouble wrapping her head around. While she’d still been trying to get to know her new self and discovering the strength of her gift, she’d coincidentally met Blake.

Not only had a relationship formed between them, but after their first night together they were now expecting twins. At first, Blake had kept his wolf a secret but after she’d revealed to him that she was pregnant he’d opened up to her. He’d brought her to his pack’s territory and let her meet his family, bringing her to her own little paradise that she was now able to call home. A home that had been in great danger, a home that she’d defended, and a home that she’d been willing to sacrifice her life for.

It hadn’t been an easy start to her new life as a member of the Timber Pack. Not only had she not been welcomed by the pack outside of Blake’s family, but they were also under attack from a rival pack. While she and Blake were constantly separated due to him protecting their pack, it was difficult for them to bond more and prepare themselves for parenthood. In the end, all her struggles had paid off and had been more than worth it.

The Skadu Pack had been defeated and now it was time to prepare for the twins’ arrival.

The Aftermath

Niev

When Niev woke up the morning after she’d learned that the Skadu Pack had been defeated, something felt different. She was laying in Blake’s arms, but something about herself felt new. As she thought about the last few weeks and the feelings that she’d gone through every time she’d woken up, she realized that she was no longer scared. She wasn’t worried about Blake, wondering if he’d come home alive or about the Skadu Pack hurting anyone. It felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders, as if she could finally breathe.

The dark clouds that had been hanging over her mind disappeared, along with the threat to her newfound family and pack. She would be able to enjoy her new life on the Timber Territory with Blake by her side. Niev was excited for what was to come and all the new things she would see and learn.

She knew there would be a few more obstacles she would face, such as being accepted by the other pack members and learning the ways of living in a pack, but those obstacles seemed simple compared to the ones she’d already overcome.

She felt Blake move and looked up to see his bright smile and brown eyes beaming at her. “Good morning, beautiful.”

She leaned forward and kissed him. “How are you feeling?”

“Finally rested and you?”

She bit her lip, her cheeks tinging pink. “Hungry.”

He laid his finger on her lip, pulling it from between her teeth. “Let’s get you some breakfast.”

They quickly dressed themselves and walked downstairs and into the kitchen where Mayra, as always, was already awake and preparing food.

“Good morning Mayra. Can I help with anything?”

Mayra twirled around with an excited squeak. “Oh Niev, Blake told me the great news.” She grabbed her and pulled her into a hug before letting go and gently rubbing Niev’s belly. “Congratulations! I can’t tell you how excited I am.”

“Thank you, Mayra. We’re also very excited, even though it’s also very scary.”

Mayra gave her an encouraging smile. “Don’t you worry, my love. You both will be amazing parents.”

Niev and Blake helped Mayra set the table while they waited for everyone to wake up and come down for one last breakfast together. Now that it was safe enough for everyone to leave the inner circle, all the families had returned to their homes. And before Layla, Michael, Aaron, Alizia, Lyliann, Seth, and Darron returned to their own homes, Mayra wanted that one last breakfast together to be special. She’d outdid herself, explaining to Niev that she’d spent hours in the kitchen trying to make the morning flawless.

Layla, Michael, Alizia, and Aaron were the first to come down. Layla was glowing with a sleeping Aaron in her arms, Michael looked tired, and Alizia was excited as ever to present Aaron to Niev and Blake. Alizia grabbed their hands and pulled them over to the couch, where Layla had sat down.

“You have to be very gentle with Aaron, he’s very tiny,” Alizia whispered as she looked down at her little brother.

“Niev, come sit next to me so you can hold Aaron for a little while.” Layla seemed very certain about the idea and not one bit worried about all the things that could go wrong.

Niev tried to hide her concern. “I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”

Blake gently nudged Niev toward the couch and into the seat next to Layla.

“You’ll be fine.” Layla turned to Niev and gently laid Aaron in her arms. “He has just been fed and all you need to do is to support his head.”

Niev looked down at Aaron who was still peacefully sleeping. He was tiny, much smaller than she’d expected. At first Niev was stiff, afraid to even breathe. Aaron looked so peaceful, and she didn’t want to do anything to disturb him.
