He would also want to share his mind with her but didn’t want her to feel bad. “It’s not all nice to share your mind with others. Sometimes if you have strong emotions, it’s impossible to hide them. It was hard hiding you before father accepted you. We might not be linked all the time with each other’s wolves but as soon as we open up to them, you need to focus not to let anything show that you would rather want to keep a secret. My heart ached for you and every time I needed to link with someone, it was hard to hide my true feelings for your protection.”

“So, if you really don’t like someone… like… I don’t know if he’s your father-in-law or something like that–you need to really hide yourself if you don’t want a confrontation?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t think I would be too good at that. It’s different to hide what you feel within yourself but if you have to open your mind to someone else to be able to talk to them, I wouldn’t be able to do it at all.”

“It takes practice, and everyone is aware of the boundaries that are being crossed with a mind link. Even if we feel something or receive something that isn’t meant for us, we try to ignore it.”

“But it would still hurt if that feeling goes toward you.”

“That’s why we keep our mind links as short as possible.”

He parked the truck and quickly walked around to her side and helped her out. Reaching into the back of the truck he picked the bags with eggs and bread for Niev to carry inside.

She looked surprised but also happy. “I’m allowed to help?”

“Yes, I don’t want to break the eggs or smash the bread.” He handed her a bag of chips. “We better not crush these either.”

With a little pep in her step, she made her way inside and he could hear her opening the cabinets and fridge as he was walking up on the porch and inside.

“I wanted to make a lasagna tonight before we go if that’s okay with you?” Niev asked as she was closing the fridge.

“We should have enough time before we need to leave.”

She nodded and started collecting all the ingredients before throwing the meat and sauce in the pan and boiling the noodles. It seemed to calm her mind and take her anxiety away, so he stepped back and let her take lead. Rushing around the kitchen, she was looking for the baking tray and stirring the… whatever you called the white lasagna sauce. He only came over again when she asked him to grate some cheese. He couldn’t imagine a better start to their special night than this.

They quickly ate dinner and left the dishes to clean the next day. Niev disappeared in the closet, debating on what to wear.

“Blake, what will the other women wear tonight?”

He honestly had no idea, but remembered Layla telling him that she always liked to wear something warmer for after the sun set and the coolness of the night sealed in. “Wear whatever you like but keep in mind that it’ll get cooler after the sun sets.”

“I’ll wear a blouse and bring a warm cardigan for later tonight. I assume you won’t be wearing much since you’ll be shifting?”

“Yes, but I’ll be by your side the whole time.”

“Are you feeling the urge right now?”

“Yes. It’s going to be even stronger after the sunlight has fully disappeared.”

“Is the urge painful?”

“No, more like an itch you can’t seem to scratch.”

Though she tried to hide it, he could feel how anxious she still was. He pulled her to his chest running his fingers soothingly over her back and kissed her hair.

“Your touch always comforts me like nothing else ever has,” she revealed.

“I’ve noticed the same about yours. Selene has blessed me with you in so many ways I can’t even describe to you.”

She looked up, resting her chin on his sternum. “I didn’t even know she existed, yet she pushed me toward you, and I’ll forever be in her debt for it.”

He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers, pouring all his love for her into that single kiss. His hands wrapped around her waist and picked her up, allowing her to wrap her legs around him. He stepped closer to the bed and laid her down, his weight pinning down her beautiful, petite frame, careful not to add too much pressure to her stomach. He swallowed her moans as his hand pushed beneath her shirt caressing her soft skin.

Another moan slipped into his mouth when she reached for his jeans, unbuttoned them, and slowly pulled down the zipper. Her small, delicate hands moved over the thin fabric that separated her from his hard dick.

His lips slowly moved from hers, over her jawline, and toward her ear, gently pecking her earlobe with his tongue.
