Everyone was already at the main house, preparing for dinner. Niev was busy in the kitchen helping his mother plate the food and looked gorgeous as always. Her hair was up in a loose bun and the dress she was wearing hugged her bump that was showing more and more with each passing day. His feet moved of their own volition. Wrapping his arms around her from behind, he kissed her cheek.
“You look gorgeous as always,” he whispered, caressing her neck with more kisses.
She stopped what she was doing and turned around, pressing her lips onto his. Her delicious vanilla taste spread through his mouth as she pushed her tongue past his lips.
“There are kids around! Save your make out session for later,” Michael chuckled behind them.
Niev quickly pulled away, her face turning red. “I‘m sorry.”
Blake grinned. “Michael is just jealous, that’s all.”
“You wish.” Michael laughed and grabbed two of the serving dishes and carried them to the table.
Blake pulled Niev closer again. “Did you find a dress or am I not allowed to ask?”
Her smile lit up her whole face. “You may ask and yes I found something.”
“I can’t wait to see it.”
His mother leaned closer. “She looked breathtaking.”
Niev’s cheeks turned even redder. “Thank you, Mayra.”
“Father approved too, and so did everyone else.”
“Must everyone tease me like this?” Blake knew she would look breathtaking in whatever she wore but now he wanted to see it too.
“I didn’t mean to tease you.” Niev reached up and caressed his cheek before turning back around and handed him two serving bowls. “Can you set these on the table?”
“Anything for you.” He turned around, carried the bowls to the table, and found a seat next to Seth. Niev followed him and sat to his other side with Tristan next to her.
Niev seemed nervous and leaned toward him. “Can you ask them not to eat yet? I need to grab something and have a few words to say.”
He nodded and watched her walk down the hallway and into his father’s office. She returned a moment later before everyone had found their seat. She had a small gift bag in her hands and stood by the table waiting for everyone to settle down.
With flushed cheeks she started to speak. “I wanted to thank everyone for coming tonight. You all mean a lot to me, and Blake and I wanted to share this moment with all of you, when I share this gift with Blake.”
Before she handed him the gift bag, she turned her attention toward Tristan.
“I believe you’re the only one in this room who Blake and I kept in the dark and I’m very sorry for it.” She took a deep breath, her smile brightening even more. “Blake and I aren’t only expecting one, but two babies.”
Blake watched as Tristan slowly processed what Niev had just revealed to him “What?” His voice shook as he looked up at Niev, then slowly turned to Blake.
Blake couldn’t help but beam with pride. “We are having twins.”
Tristan’s face turned white, and he looked back at Niev, his gaze on her stomach. “Twins?”
“Yes.” She smiled. “And I believe we no longer have to keep it all a secret.” She turned her attention back to Blake. “Unless you think that is necessary.”
He shook his head. “As long as you’re ready, I don’t mind sharing the good news.”
“Good.” She handed him the gift bag, her face beaming with excitement. “This is for you.”
Blake took the bag. He wasn’t sure why, but his hands tingled and shook.Hearing Michael whisper at the other end of the table didn’t help the nervous feeling either.
“Let’s hope it’s kid friendly.”
Now Blake was scared and looked up at Niev. “You sure I can open this in front of everyone?”
