“Excellent. It’s going to take place on the second floor of this building. I have the decor set up already.”

“And food?”

“Still needs to be planned. I’d love to use someone local if possible.”

“Got it.”

As I pet Mina, I glance over at him again, admiring his exposed flesh and imagining what my teeth marks would look like on his neck. The idea warms me and my body reacts, drawing me to him even though I remain still.

“What’s on your mind, Michel? You have quite the look on your face.”

“Do I? I suppose I was replaying what it felt like to have you in my arms.”

His cheeks blush a pretty pink. “Yeah?”

“My brain refuses to release the moment you came. You are truly breathtaking, Eli.”

He tilts his head, watching me over his mug as he takes a sip. “You have such an interesting way of speaking, even after all these years. I guess I thought the East Coast cadence would rub off on you, but you still sound like a classy European guy.”

I laugh at that. “Ugh. All the time I spent trying to sound more like an American teen was for naught.”

“I’m glad. It suits you. Debonair, elegant, incredibly attractive. You’re quite the package, Michel.”

“As long as you like me, that’s good enough.”

“Oh, I like you alright.”

I rise from the floor and approach him, bending down to kiss him. “I’m off to New Onyx for some business today. Do you care to join me?”

Eli shakes his head. “No way. I’ve had more than enough of that city for a while.”

Chuckling, I pull back. “I understand. I’m sure I’ll appreciate Neubrook even more when I return.”

“I bet. Have a good day.”

“You too.”

An hour later, I exit the freeway that leads to the city center in New Onyx. My new friends Yves and Syn helpfully supplied the name of the cell phone factory owner, who I plan to visit. He’s not expecting me, but that’s never stopped me before.

After parking in front of the large stone building that contains Oscala Technology, I step out, buttoning my suit jacket. It’s cooler this morning as winter digs in one more time before surrendering to spring completely. I prefer summer, but it will be here soon enough.

Entering the building, I’m stopped by security, turning on the charm and a touch of compulsion to ensure my entry. Sure enough, a moment later I’m allowed to pass and on my way to the elevators that will take me to the top floor where Sean Richmond runs his company.

The doors open to a sleek lobby where a pretty blonde woman sits behind a huge metal desk. She glances up at me, her eyes taking me in in the way I’m still getting used to.

“Hello,” she says. “Can I help you?”

“Yes, hi. I’m here to see Mr. Richmond. He’s not expecting me, but I’m positive he wants to hear what I have to say.”

“Perhaps,” she says, smiling. “But you still need an appointment. Mr. Richmond is a very busy man.”

“I’m sure he is, which is why I’m here.” I lean over her desk slightly, focusing on her blue eyes. Her cheeks flush as I flood her with compulsion. “I’m going to save him a lot of money and hassle.”

She nods. “That’s important to him. What is your name?”

“Michel Toussaint.”

“Just a moment, Mr. Toussaint.” With dazed eyes, she stands and walks behind a wall.
