The door opens and Michel steps in, already decked out in a black tuxedo. My mouth falls open at the sight of him. He is, in a word, breathtaking.

“Wow.” I step closer.

Michel smiles. “You look amazing, Eli.”

“So do you. How did you get dressed without me knowing?”

He laughs softly. “I had everything ready in my office in case I was running late.”

“Is everything okay?”

He nods, taking my hand in his and kissing the back of it. “Everything is great. The press release is going out tomorrow and the press conference will be the day after that.”

“Are you worried about Landon causing any trouble at the press conference?”

“No. In fact I anticipate he will, so I’ve ordered extra security just to ensure the safety of everyone around us. I don’t think he would do something like pull a gun, but these days you never know.”

“Good call.”

“It helps his side that not everyone knows about the details. He didn’t publicly announce that he was working with Sean, so the humiliation factor is only between him and those he told.”

“Yeah, but he fucking hates you, Michel. He’s not gonna take this lying down.”

“I don’t expect him to. That’s the fun of it, really.” Michel smiles. “But I don’t care and you have to stop worrying about it. I knew exactly what would happen when I did this, and I’m perfectly okay with it. I’m prepared. I’m going to run him out of this town once and for all.”

Michel has a dangerous gleam in his eyes like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and it more than intrigues me. It kind of turns me on.

“I know you only remember me from what I used to be like,” Michel continues. “But I assure you I am far more dangerous than Garrett Landon is.”

“Yeah, I’m starting to pick up on that.”

“Good.” He leans in and kisses me gently. “Now, let’s go have fun and not think about stupid Garrett at all for a few hours.”

I take his hand and start the walk downstairs, but pause just before we get to the elevators. “Would it bother you for people to think we might be together?”

Michel’s brow creases. “Of course not. I’m proud of us being together.”

“Me too. I haven’t, like, come right out and told my parents, but I never really saw myself doing that anyway.”

Michel nods. “I can try to keep my hands off of you if you’re not comfortable with people knowing about us.”

“Oh no, that’s not what I meant. I meant they’ll probably hear about it, but I don’t care. I’m really excited to be on your arm.”

His smile softens. “Not as excited as I am, I assure you. Also, you should know there’s a confidentiality agreement all guests must sign. It adds to the allure of the event, the exclusivity of it, and guests comply because it makes them feel special.”

His tone causes my cock to twitch. The man is sexy even when all he’s doing is speaking.

“You have an interesting expression on your face. What’s on your mind?”

“I’ll tell you later when we’re alone, but it’s all good.” I step forward and place a kiss on his cheek, but he grabs me around the waist and pulls me in for a deeper kiss. I let myself melt into him for just a moment, inhaling his cherry wood scent, absorbing the intense warmth of his mouth, and the possessiveness with which he kisses.

He pulls away abruptly but smiles, reaching between us to adjust himself. “Wouldn’t really be proper to walk in with a huge erection, would it?”

I just laugh. “I’m more than happy to take care of that later.”

Michel’s smile grows, his eyes heating. “Something to look forward to, then.”

We exit the apartment and step into the elevator, taking it to the second level. When the doors open, we’re met with a flurry of activity as servers move through the space finalizing everything. Near the windows, a group of five men stand, nearly identical to the man beside me.
