I smile at that thought as I fix my bow tie. Eli became a vampire for me. If there is any greater gesture of love, I don’t know what it is.

He enters the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around his lower body, his skin still dotted with beads of water. Since he’s come home, he’s let his hair grow out a bit and even sports a tidy beard. His body is softer too, but in the best of ways.

Eli smiles, dropping the towel, and as my eyes move to his cock hanging heavy between his legs, a combination of desire and bloodlust washes over me.

“Fuck, you look good enough to eat.”

Eli chuckles. “Lucky for you, you can feast whenever you want.”

“It’ll be difficult to get through the evening.”

“I’m your prize for a successful kill.” He stalks toward me, pressing his nude body against my suited one when he reaches me. “And I can’t wait.”

I grip his chin, tugging his bottom lip to expose his fangs. “You made me the man I am, Eli. Even before you knew how much you influenced me. Tonight is for you as much as it is for me.”

His eyes gleam with love and the promise of eternity as he runs his hands down my chest. “Go now, before we’re late to our own party. I’ll be there soon.”

I steal a kiss, lingering for a few seconds to absorb his sweetness before forcing myself away. “I’ll see you soon.”

Then I’m off. Out the door and across town to the abandoned warehouse I chose as the location. Tonight’s theme is none other than Mardi Gras, complete with beads, dancers, and as much debauchery as possible.

I’ve hired actors from New Onyx and a few other East Coast cities to add to the atmosphere, along with a band straight out of New Orleans. We have the right food, the right music, and the perfect ambience for guests to lose themselves in the night.

My all-cream tuxedo is accented by the colors of Mardi Gras, and I chose an elaborate mask that matches Eli’s. As is tradition, I’ve hired ten fakes to throw people off so I can move freely about the space.

Inside the building, I’m greeted right away by Yves and his coven: Syn, Thorn, Eros, Midnight, and Raphael—six of the most visually intimidating men I’ve ever come across.

They’re dressed in simple black suits with matching black masks in their hands—Yves’s idea to blend in with the crowd.

“Welcome, gentlemen.”

Thorn grins, rubbing his hands together. “Our pleasure, dude. This is right up our alley.”

Raphael chuckles, nodding. “We do enjoy an elaborate hunt.”

“Well I appreciate the assist. I am a little worried though. Garrett, the main issue, has been oddly quiet the last two months since I debunked his video footage.”

“And you don’t think he just gave up?” Eros asks.

“No. He’s not known for being levelheaded. It’s possible he accepted my invite in order to ambush me or something.”

“We’ll be ready for him,” Syn says, a devious gleam in his eye.

“We won’t take our eyes off him all night,” Yves adds. “He’s in a room with eight vampires. You’re safe.”

“I’m not worried about me. I just don’t want anyone innocent caught in the crossfire.”

“They won’t be,” Midnight says. “Discreet is our middle name. We got this. All you have to do is get to the room. We’ll get him and his friends there.”

Nodding, I exhale. “Perfect. Should we go look at the room?”

“Please,” Yves says.

After opening the large doors that lead to where the party will be, we walk past decorators and caterers on our way to the side room. It’s across the space, opposite the kitchen and restrooms where other people might be during the evening. There’s a small flight of stairs that has a metal door at the bottom.

I push it open and step through the narrow opening, revealing a dark, musty space inside. There are no windows, and since it’s encased in cement, no way for noise to make it out. There’s a drain in the center—ideal for cleaning up later.

Yves walks in a small circle around the space. “This is perfect.”
