Oliver laughed again, bowing forward and burying his nose in the top of Victor’s wet hair. “Mm. Close. Just…hang on, let me shimmy a bit.”

He did almost the same as Victor had in order to get undressed, except he was graceful and on his feet. The jeans eventually came loose enough for Victor to peel them away, revealing pink lace and pale skin.

He didn’t touch as much as he wanted to.

Oliver took a step back, and his arms flopped to his sides before he aborted the gesture, grabbed his wet shirt, and peeled it off. Victor’s heart thumped in his chest at the sight of metal adorning his nipples and a curved, decorative ring in his navel.

“Did they hurt?”

Oliver laughed, the sound sort of breathless and tucked against the back of his throat. “Yeah, actually. The nipple ones were hell. They’re still pretty sensitive.”

Victor fought back a groan as he felt himself plump up, and he knew he couldn’t hide it behind the thin material of his boxers. He watched as Oliver’s gaze drifted lower, and his lips parted on a sharp inhale.

“I’m sorry,” Victor said.

“God, no,” Oliver replied, taking a hurried step closer. “Don’t be sorry for that.”

Victor wasn’t sure what to say. “Our agreement—”

“Fuck,” Oliver whispered, and he shoved one hand into his wet hair, tugging hard. “Do we have to talk about the agreement?”

Victor wanted to say no. He wanted to tell Oliver it didn’t matter—but it did. None of this was normal. It had a twisted, strange, wonderful beginning, but he knew the end would be sharp, painful, and full of loss.

But he was willing to take what he could get. Oliver was special, and Victor was done being a fool.

“We need to,” he said, his voice raspy. He gave in to his desire to touch, and he curled his hands around Oliver’s hips, tugging him close. “I think it’s obvious I want you.”

“Yeah, and I think it’s obvious I’ve wanted to climb into your fucking lap since the night you kissed my hand.”

Victor went hot in the cheeks as he remembered exactly what Oliver’s skin felt like under his lips. “You should have. I would have let you.”

“I know, but I was lying to you, and I couldn’t live with myself if I went that far without you knowing who I am.WhatI am,” Oliver added even softer.

Victor tugged again, and Oliver’s legs spread to bracket Victor’s thighs. “Sit,” he told him.

Once again, Oliver obeyed like he was born to do it, and Victor’s cock twitched between them. Their gazes connected, and Oliver braced himself with one hand on Victor’s shoulder, using the other to trace a touch along the edge of his jaw.

“You’ve been hurt.”

Victor shook his head. “It’s not hurt.”

“It is,” Oliver said. “It might not have been heartbreak, but it was still pain.”

Victor squeezed his eyes shut. He didn’t want to admit that Alice had ever had the power to cause him any kind of distress. Even if it was the truth. He took a deep breath in and held it before letting it go and looking back up into Oliver’s eyes.

“I know this doesn’t end well for either of us. Our lives are…”

“Different.”

“Complicated,” Victor said. He wanted to tell Oliver he’d make room for him. That he’d burn it all down for him. But he wasn’t sure if that was his grief talking. “I’ve never met anyone like you before, and I don’t want to give you up for the short time I have you.”

Oliver nodded, then dropped his head and knocked their foreheads together. “Then we need the agreement.”

Victor sighed. He thought maybe that would make what this was feel more shallow, but it didn’t. “You’re worth the world, but—”

“I charge five grand a day for what you’re asking from me,” Oliver said, a hint of warning in his tone.

Victor laughed, unable to help it. “Are you trying to price me out, Oliver?”
