His jaw dropped. “I beg your pardon?”

“What? It’s true.”

He closed the distance between them, leaving only a few inches between their bodies. Caroline had to crane her head back to look into his eyes. He knew this was a dangerous game. She made him feel things when they were so close, but he couldn’t let this moment pass him by.

“Who kissed whom in my office? And in the plane? What aboutthatkiss?”

She blushed so deeply that he couldn’t resist. He had to touch her. He cupped one of her cheeks and leaned down just enough that his breath brushed against her lips. “You haven’t answered me.”

“You’re the one who is about to kissme,” she said.

He chuckled. “Oh? You think so?”

“Yes.” She swallowed audibly. Her mouth was desperate to be kissed. His sure was, but he couldn’t give in to the temptation. How was he supposed to walk away from her if they went any further?

You’re not supposed to be able to walk away from her,his wolf growled.Kiss her already.

Ryland would never know who kissed whom first this time. Maybe they both reached for the other at the exact same time.

But all that mattered was that his mouth moved against Caroline’s. The softness of her lips, the wetness of her tongue, the gentle mewling noises she made in the back of her throat. It all drove him mad.

He stuffed his hands into her hair and continued to sip from her mouth. Her hands closed around his neck, and she crushed her breasts into him.

“We can totally blame this on the romantic city,” she whispered.

“Blame what?”

“Thisthirdlapse in judgment you seem to have had.”

He chuckled and nuzzled her neck. God, she smelled good. He never wanted to let her go. He would have to, and it would hurt like a mother fucker now that he knew what it was like to hold her close to his heart.

“My lapse, huh?”

“Yup,” she said before kissing him again. “What’s a girl to do?”

“I don’t know,” he responded, not sure what she was even asking him. He could barely think of anything but her.

“Ryland, maybe you should let me go. I need to rest.”

It took six seconds too long for him to drop his hands, but Caroline rushed to her bedroom when he did.

Ryland wanted to follow her. Crawl into bed with her.

There was no doubt now.

He was a goner.

* * *

After her nap,Caroline locked herself into the bathroom under the pretense of getting ready for their night out, but Ryland wondered if she was taking her time to torture him.

He walked right up to the door more than once with every intention of blowing it down like a wolf in a fairy tale.

But Caroline would be furious with him.

He didn’t want to give her a reason to lose her cool. It seemed that every time he pissed her off, she kissed him. He liked it. Too much. Now, getting her all riled up was becoming a habit simply because he wanted her to kiss him again.

It was so much simpler when she was the one to kiss him. Then, he could deny that he had any hand in it … except the hands he put on her body.
