Ryland would find her.

She didn’t know how, but that wolfman would find her, and then she would tell him the truth.

Everything. Who she was and what she had done.

Even the feelings she had for him.

TWENTY-SIX

RYLAND

Ryland spent the next eight hours desperately trying to figure out who the lynxes were and where they would take Caroline and Salvatore Bonetti.

The old man’s sister-in-law refused to tell him anything more, and even Lucia was stumped. The most they’d uncovered was that the lynxes were of the Canal pack, and somehow, they were connected to the Bonettiandthe Fiore families.

The common link between them was Isadora.

She was in Paris. Caroline had learned as much.

On pure instinct and on advice from Wilder, Ryland made his way to Paris. The second murder had taken place there. It was only logical.

Ryland knew too much of the world. He feared the worst.

He also knew that if the lynxes wanted to smuggle Caroline and Salvatore into another country, they would be able to.

Every time he thought of her out there alone, his body violently shook.

Thankfully, by the time he landed in Paris, Wilder was already there waiting for him. “I did some digging while you were in the air,” he said. “Isadora Fiore, born Bonetti, does live in Paris, but no one has seen or heard from her in a long time. She likes to travel, apparently.”

“We were told her health isn’t good,” Ryland growled as he sat in the passenger seat of Wilder’s car.

“It might not be, but she likes to travel to New York if the international border patrol is right,” Wilder said as he fired up the engine.

“New York? I’ve got a flower shop under surveillance in New York. It’s owned by the Fiore family.”

“Do you think Isadora could be back there? All the way across the ocean?” Wilder was skeptical.

“I don’t know what to think. There were zero indications that shifters were involved in this until I was face-to-face with four of them. I don’t like surprises.”

Wilder nodded. “Who does? I’ve got all borders into France on the lookout for her, but I doubt they will be caught.”

“Fuck,” Ryland hissed.

“Our only option is the find Isadora and see if she’s behind this. I’ve got a few of my people on the ground right here looking into Laurent La Forest, the second victim. He has no link to the Fiore or Bonetti families. Nothing to explain how he got hold of a vase.”

“Isadora. How do we find her?”

“We check the nursing home where she supposedly lives. We go from there.”

It wasn’t a great plan, and Ryland hated it.

Please let Caroline be okay.

The longer he spent apart from her, the more he knew … he would never be able to let her go.

Isadora’s Parisaddress was not a nursing home.
