“I see you’ve found me.” She sipped her coffee. “Again.”

“My mate was taken because you lied to us. Why did you tell us your name was Lina Fiore?”

“Because that is the name I use. Anyone who asks for Isadora Bonetti or Isadora Fiore will only get lies from my family and friends. My chosen name is Lina.”

“Your health’s not failing at all,” he accused.

“I’m not as young as I used to be, but no, I seriously play up my aging.” She grinned. “I’ve got to be the only woman in the world who does that.” She laughed, but he didn’t join in. “The things I do to survive.”

He was only vaguely aware that Wilder had come in behind him. “My mate was taken by the lynxes.”

“I’m sorry for that.”

“What do they want?”

Lina Fiore smiled sadly. “They want the other vases. They’ve always wanted them, but they aren’t the only ones. It wasn’t the lynxes who killed poor Dino or that French man, Laurent La Forest. I warned them that the vases were dangerous, but they didn’t believe me.”

“Who was it that killed them then?” he asked.

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

“Then why would the lynxes take my mate?”

“I don’t know. They’re going to be here in the next few hours. You can ask them.”

“It won’t be a polite way of asking.”

She gave a sad smile. “Maybe if you can rid my family of them before I die, I’ll be a happy old woman.”

It only took three hours for the lynxes to show up, and by then, Ryland and Wilder had a plan of attack ready. He knew there would be four lynxes in the truck. The odds weren’t great, but he was livid.

He would kill an army of lynxes to get his mate back.

When a large white delivery truck pulled up in front of the shop, Ryland nudged Wilder, who was typing furiously on his phone. “They’re here.”

“We’re ready for them,” Wilder assured his brother.

Their enemies got out of the truck, not overly surprised that the wolves had found them. The largest of the men was dressed in all black, and a large scar ran down his face. Ryland noticed that his ear was also ravaged, and he knew.

This was the man in black who stalked Caroline. It was also one of the lynxes that had attacked Salvatore Bonetti’s home.

Hehad taken Caroline.

Wilder grabbed his brother’s arm, stopping him before he shifted in the middle of a crowded Paris street. “Wait,” he said, low and commanding.

“Not a chance. My mate could be in the back of that delivery truck.”

Wilder gave a small nod and let Ryland go. “Where is she?” he asked the man in black.

The man in black grinned. “Nowhere you’ll ever find her.”

“Doubt it,” Ryland snapped. “She’s my mate.”

“Ah, that’s too bad. Had I known, I would have killed her when I had the chance.”

“You’re gonna leave the Bonetti and Fiore families alone. You’re gonna stop going apeshit for those vases, and you are going to give me my mate back. Salvatore, too,” he quickly added.

The man in black thought about it for a second. “No.”
