On a more serious note, I asked her, “How have you been?” Even though the question should be aimed at me, you just never know what anyone truly goes through.

She shrugged and answered with a smile, “Life is life, ya know?”

I gave her a hug, how I missed my best friend. She seemed more distant after I moved, and our conversations became shorter and shorter with time. We had different goals, and our history just didn't seem like enough to keep us from losing touch.

She tightened her grip around my back and quickly let go, “You have to meet our new friends,” she beamed.

I rolled my eyes, knowing she probably just met these so-called buddies of ours.

She gripped my hand firmly and pulled me toward the dance floor, almost ripping my arm out of its joint. She was quite strong for such a pixie-like woman.

Once we went through the other side of the bar, there were two gentlemen standing by a dart board. She stopped the pulling to tap one of them on the shoulder.

I gasped and mentally erased the word gentlemen from my vocabulary when asshole – Hunt - was one of them. He turned around laughing at something the other guy said.

His buddy said to my friend, “Well, hi there little Kara, who have you brought with you?” he bit his bottom lip while rubbing his hands together like he was trying to start a fire, was that supposed to be sexy?

“Ginny,” Hunt blurted with a surprised look on his face. He rubbed the back of his neck while his buddy was still eyeing me up and down. Hunt noticed the way his friend was staring at me and took a step in my direction. His friends observed the way Hunt thrust his chest and set his gaze on him. This must be how wild animals state their claim. Maybe I should get a raincoat. At this rate, Hunt may just pee on me to stake his claim.

“Are you going to buy me a drink, Steven?” Kara asked the burly man that stared at my friend like she was a snack, breaking the tension I was probably extracting.

“What do I get in return?’ Steven asked, but we all know what he was truly asking.

Kara leaned her body against his and it didn’t take long before they were making out, leaving me alone with Hunter.Great.

I turned on my heels and started to walk away but fingers wrapped around my arm, stopping me from making my exit. His grip didn't squeeze in a nonverbal command, instead it was like a gentle suggestion that caused me toturn my head in his direction. He quickly removed his hand to place it awkwardly next to him and said, “Hi, Um, where are you going?”

I had never seen him act this way like he was actually embarrassed. Could Hunt be showing me his vulnerable side? His awkwardness enticed me. I liked seeing him this way. Slightly off balance and bashful suited him. It’s a mass improvement from the slimy god-like creature he usually portrayed. Honestly, it was quite the turn-on. It reminded me of the friend that I fell stupidly for years ago before he turned into the smarmy jerk that he was today.

Back when he couldn’t efficiently pass a pickup line from his lips. His honesty was more lethal, and it rendered me stupid long enough to fall a little harder. I thought we were on the same page, but Hunt didn’t see me that way, or at least someone he could see himself with. However now that twerp found the new and improved Ginny something to look at. Maybe I could have a little fun with this after all. Revenge usually wasn’t my shade of personality, but there were always exceptions.

HUNT

Her arm felt like silk beneath my fingers and the way her eyes scanned me when I grasped her melted my insides to goo. The succulent smell emanating from her made my dick throb. The temptation fueled me. I patted the seat next to me and allowed my eyes to follow her every move. She walked with grace, appearing to glide across the floor, nothing like the klutzy young girl that I remembered. There’s something about her that made my brain fog up and I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. My dick had its own mind. It was hard as a rock every time, she so much as blinked.Down boy, not now.

I crossed my legs and started the conversation, “So…” My mind went blank, she was awaiting my next words, but nothing came. I felt like a complete idiot.

After what seemed like the longest pause, she peered at me with curious eyes and added, “So, are you enjoying your night?”

I nodded, “Yes, you?” Apparently, I couldn’t form an actual sentence.

She leaned forward and she smelled sweet like candy, which made the back of my throat growl, not loud enough for her to hear. At least I had hoped so. The frustration of not being able to find the right words and the urgency to feel her pressed against me had me discombobulated. I’m acting like a bumbling teenage virgin. I needed to get my shit together and remember my end game. Ginny naked in my bed, then moved on. She’s just another girl. Maybe this would be the ultimate hunt.

I breathed in deeply and attempted to regain my composure. I lifted a strand of her silky hair and combed it between my fingers. The strands fell in waves against her slim shoulders. She calmly sat watching me move like a cat ready to pounce. The imaginary wall she had in place was tall and strong. It would take some work to penetrate it, however, it was time to show her the new Hunt, the man. Not the silly boy who swooned over girls and got heartbroken every other week. How pathetic.

“Now, tell me Ginny. Where have you been all these years? I didn’t even recognize you.” I admitted, trying to use the friend card to open the lines of communication. I leaned forward showing her that I was eager for her answer. Hopefully, she will take the bait.

She leaned back and shook her head, but obliged me with an answer, “Well that’s probably because when we were friends, you were too busy looking at everyone else. I was surprised that you remembered me at all.” She spewed like she didn’t care if I were here at all. Wow! I must’ve done something to piss her off back then or maybe she was upset that I never didanything. How was I supposed to know that she felt that way? I was just a stupid kid. I didn’t learn my way around women until long after she left me behind.

She turned her head away from me, giving me a view of her perfect willowy neck. Her hair rested against her back. I watched the perfect throat swallow a few times, as she appeared to be searching for someone, maybe Kara. Was she nervous? She didn’t appear to be nervous earlier.

I used my observation skills to study her. Her hands were clasped in her lap. Her foot tapped on the ground while her right leg bounced beneath the table. Either she was nervous or impatient, but why would she be nervous? Maybe Ginny liked me a little more than she let on. I leaned in closer, whispering in her ear. “How could I forget about you? The girl who taught me how to kiss turned into the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.” She swiveled her head in my direction. The surprise on her face was a shock to me. She must get hit on all the time. Maybe it was weird because it was me.

“Why do you appear so shocked? I meant every word.” I continued, however this time I was the one in shock because the truth was that I meant every word. Ginny was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I wanted to be near her, on her, and in her all at the same time. I wanted to spend hours worshiping her body. The scary thing was that I wasn’t sure that I would only want it once, with her I may need to be a repeat offender.

Doubt clouded my mind, did she not like what she saw? I had never been insecure about myself, but those beautiful eyes bore into my soul and at this very moment I just wanted to kiss my doubt away with those beautiful wet lips that she had been nibbling on for the last few seconds.

She spoke after what felt like the longest time of my life, "Should we get another drink?"
