Manik

Wishing she was still in my bed, and I was running my tongue across her stomach and down to her sweet pussy, I instead ask, “What are your plans today?” as I watch her get dressed.

“I’m going shopping. Louis saved all my stuff but it’s a decade out of date and new me and all that, I need new clothes,” she says wistfully.

Her mood hasn’t lifted as much as I’d hoped. I can’t help but keep my eye on her while she dresses, and I shove my legs into my jeans. Something dark and sad swam in her eyes at the beach last night and only disappeared while I was inside her. I was a distraction for her and since I’m becoming addicted to being inside her, I was more than happy to be whatever she needed me to be.

“How about I take you out for a late breakfast first?” I offer.

I’m not ready to let her out of my sight yet. She’s the first woman I’ve not wanted to leave after a night together. Even my last girlfriend didn’t have me acting like this. I’m absolutely fucked. Trouble goes down, I leave town, I meet one woman and everything changes. How is that possible? I’ve seen brothers fall hard for their old ladies, but I’ve never felt that impact myself. Yet, this one woman is getting me all tied up and I’m not doing anything to fight it.

“Sounds good.” She smiles. “I need to stop by Louis’s on the way, though.”

“That’s fine by me.”

Tying the laces on my boots, now sand free, I grab my keys and wallet and once she’s ready to leave, I take hold of her hand.

“You know, I’m here if you ever want to talk,” I offer, and she nods.

It’s all so normal until we hit the bottom of the stairs and the bar is half filled with brothers. She goes to take her hand back, but I tighten my grip and keep a firm hold on her. I’m not hiding the fact we’re spending time together and since her brother doesn’t have a problem with it, no other fucker should. It’s not like Psycho’s even around to see anything.

Catching Chaos’s attention, I tell him, “I’m heading out for breakfast. You want me to bring you back anything?”

Shaking his head, he informs me, “You need to cancel. Club business.” He peers to Lexi, adding, “Sorry, sweetheart.”

She smiles at him. “It’s all good.”

This is the last thing I want to hear but I own my responsibilities and if the club needs me, I’m here for them.

“Have I got enough time to take Lexi home?”

“Evie’s out front, she’ll take her home.”

I walk her outside and sure enough Psycho and Evie are by her car. I only have a few minutes before she’ll be out of my sight. Pulling Lexi against me, I say, “Call me when you’re done shopping. Maybe we can do dinner?”

“I’ll let you know.”

Leaning up on her toes, she presses her lips to mine, and I promise myself if she doesn’t call me, I’ll hunt her down.

“Lex!” Psycho hollers and she pulls away from me. “Evie needs to go.”

She smiles my way and tugs her hands-free from mine.

“I’ll see you later.”

Psycho kisses his old lady goodbye and walks over once he’s spoken briefly with his sister. Standing next to me, he crosses his arms over his chest, and we watch Evie drive out and the prospect close the gate behind them.

“I don’t want to hear you ever talking about what you and my sister get up to, she isn’t trash talk for you with the brothers.”

“Fucking hell, Psy, I don’t do gossip. I’d never do that to her.”

The weight of his stare pushes down on my shoulders.

“Just making sure.”

He turns and heads into the bar with me close behind. Inside, brothers are making their way into the back room, and Psycho and I follow. Being from another chapter, I take my seat where there’s one free and Chaos slams the gavel down.

“We’ve got apotentialproblem,” he begins and gets everyone’s immediate attention, including mine. “Psy’s been keeping an eye on it, and it seems his concerns are coming to fruition. There’s a new gang moving its way into our town. They call themselves Badlands Boys and so far, they’re about sixteen strong.”
