He stands and drops the bones into the bag. “You dumb fucks should never have taken my sister. She did her time for what she did. And now we have to do our part because you decided to play judge, juror, and failed executioner.”

Two hours and thirteen minutes.

That’s how long it takes for them to breathe their last breaths. Between Psycho and I, they’ve been sliced and cut, burned, and electrocuted. Surprisingly, the father held out longer than the guy half his age. The smell of death fills my nose and I step outside and light a cigarette.

“It had to be done.”

I hear my brother and know it’s true, but it still doesn’t feel right without Lexi’s blessing.

“What now? What are you going to do with their bodies?”

“Dump them in the barrels of acid. You take the car, dump it away from your flat and walk the rest of the way. If Lex wakes, tell her Chaos called you in because of the trouble back home. Start packing and leave town.”

He shocks the shit out of me when he pulls me in and slaps me on the back.

“I know you’ll look after her. I trust you’ll make it work.”

“Psy, she’s not gonna wanna leave.”

“Like I said, she will for you. She knows I’m always here and no doubt Evie will have me driving us up to visit.”

And just like that, my life has flipped but this time I have the love of my life at my side. Anywhere is home as long as I have her.
