"Oh, I’m going to enjoy this. She didn’t bring the cash. Guess she’s all mine now," she turned and hollered to the men, who stood at least a couple of yards away, lounging against their cars. She didn’t need to hear them to know they were snarling at her. She whimpered, losing her momentum. Freaking out.

Her poor face.

Oh god. She should have robbed a bank and paid them the money instead. But no, she had to base her decision on the freaking principle of the matter.

"That’s all you brought? Those pretty boys over there?" she asked Rayne.

In desperation, Rayne turned around to see the three men behind her, a little in the distance. They stood leaning into the front of the four-wheel, causally, lazily, so unbothered.

"This is between you and me," Rayne said softly.

"Yeah, well, after I fuck up your face up, my boyfriend and his boys are going to fuck their pretty faces up real good. You should have brought the money, bitch."

The girl lifted her arm with her hand in a tight fist.

Here it comes.

And then, like magic, Rayne used her left arm to block the punch, then, with her right hand, palm straight and stiff, just like they taught her, slammed it into the side of the girl’s neck, watched her eyes widen in shock, and then staggered to the ground. She hit the concrete hard, probably more out of shock than anything else, and laid on her back.

Rayne couldn’t believe she had done it.

"You fuck... fuck... The girl squirmed as if she had been electrocuted.

Rayne couldn’t help it. She jumped up and down and clapped her hands at her victory, and she couldn’t help turning around to show her bodyguards what she had done.

She didn’t get any further when the girl's gang came charging toward her. All fifteen of them. She stood in mute fear.

"You fucking bitch, you’re going to die for hitting my girl."

Chapter Eight

Rayne could hardly keep track of what was happening. The girl’s boyfriend, who came after her, was so close she could see the bristle on his upper lip, followed by his gang, never made it any closer to her.

She had no idea how fast Beckett, Aston, and Keaton could move, but it was lightning fast. She was pushed behind their solid, mountainous bodies, and the man standing in front of her, the boyfriend, who would have done serious damage to her, suddenly went flying.

She watched in mesmerized awe as Beckett, Aston, and Keaton took on fifteen men armed with knives and canes and knocked them out. Didn’t even break a sweat; not a hair was out of place, well except Keaton’s, which was a little longer, and a lock fell onto his forehead.

They were beautiful combat poetry in motion. Sleek, perfectly coordinated predators, and those men didn’t stand a chance.

Within minutes, the gang was disarmed, their weapons lay in a heap on the other side of them as they all groaned and sobbed in pain, writhing on the ground.

"You okay?" Aston asked as they closed the distance between them. They had moved her far aside, out of reach of any flying kicks or punches.

She nodded, still a little dazed, until she noticed they were actually grinning. All three of them. They had actually enjoyed themselves. It was written all over their faces.

"Let’s go," Beckett said.

She nodded and turned, but then changed her mind. "I just have to do one thing." Their gazes followed her as she walked up to the girl, who was now tending to her boyfriend and his bloody nose.

"I told you I don’t have any money. I’m not some spoiled rich girl," Rayne said. "These shoes I’m wearing, I’m still paying them off with my credit card. And maybe I should have also told you that my boyfriends over there know a hundred and twelve ways to kill a man with their bare hands. They’re not just pretty, okay?"

Feeling incredibly good about herself, she sashayed her way back to the car, where they were still waiting, and could not stop herself from releasing a big squeal.

"I can’t believe that happened. I can’t believe I did that to her. Did you see how tall she was? She was almost twice my size. I can’t believe you did that. Oh my god, I have to call Sarah."

As she sat in the back, next to Aston, while Beckett drove and Keaton sat in the front, she gave Sarah basically a complete blow-by-blow.

"She just went down. Plonk. It was amazing, and then her boyfriend wanted to kill me, but then Beckett, Aston, and Keaton came out of nowhere and just demolished them, like right before my eyes, and it was crazy. You should have seen it. And then I went back and I told her, my boyfriends know—"
