“What about you?” I ask.

“We played poker and drank scotch. It was a good time.”

“Did you win?”

“A few rounds,” he says. “I’m not much of a gambler.”

“Me either. But I did enjoy penny slots in Vegas.”

Griffin’s arm is banded securely around my stomach, holding me to him.

I wiggle my ass into him.

“Aren’t you going to touch me?” I ask.

“No.”

“You did earlier.” It comes out whinier than I intended. Then I whisper for no particular reason, “We did the sixty-nine. Remember?”

He chuckles, sending more warm puffs of air against my neck.

“Of course, I remember.”

“It was hot, right?” I ask. I don’t need his confirmation that it was hot. I thought it was so hot, but now I’m starting to wonder if I thought it was better than it was. Maybe he didn’t think it was that good so he’s not as desperate as I am to do it again.

He buries his face into my hair and sighs. “I haven’t stopped thinking about you all night.”

“So, we should do that again sometime.” Sometime being right now.

“Emma, you’ve had a lot to drink. I’m not touching you tonight. Go to sleep.”

In the middle of my pout, I stifle a yawn. I want to be annoyed that Griffin’s not making a move but the more I lie here in his arms, the more content I feel. Finally, my eyelids close. Behind me, Griffin’s breathing evens out.

“Griffin?”

“Yeah?” He tightens his grip on me.

“I don’t hate that you’re a lawyer. It was more about Alec and how he prioritized his work before me. How I felt invisible in our relationship.” I swallow. “I don’t feel invisible with you.”

His large hand moves to rest on my hip, his fingers lightly gripping the t-shirt material gathered there. “You always have my attention, Emma. I don’t know how to not look at you.”

With Griffin’s sweet words echoing in my ears and the contentment I feel with his warm, strong body holding me tight, I drift off to sleep.

It’s still dark outside when I wake. I register two things, it’s Saturday, so I don’t have to get out of bed and Griffin’s arm is locked over my stomach, our bodies still pressed firmly together, so there’d be no way to get out of bed even if I wanted to.

Our legs are tangled, my ass snug up against his crotch. I’ve just woken up, but from the dull throbbing between my thighs, I can tell my body has been awake for some time. Hoping to squeeze my thighs together to gain some friction, I start to slide my leg out from between Griffin’s.

I’m almost free when his thick thigh wraps over the top of mine to pin my leg back into place.

“Good morning,” his voice rumbles against the shell of my ear. “How did you sleep?” His nose nuzzles into my hair. He takes in a deep breath like he’s starved for air and the scent of my shampoo.

“Good.”

“I dreamed about you,” he says.

“Yeah?”
