He motions for me to follow him down the hallway.

“You’ll be at Barrett’s party tonight, right?” I ask.

“I wouldn’t miss it. I’ve known Barrett for years and still can’t believe he’s getting married.” He chuckles. “You can be the angel on his shoulder, telling him how marriage is great and I’ll be the devil urging him not to do it.”

“Not a fan of marriage?” I ask.

“It’s not for me. I’m old. Set in my ways. And I’m tired of women trying to lock me down. It feels like a game.”

I nod. I could see that a single guy with a lucrative business would be a target for some women for reasons other than love and companionship.

“I never gave much thought to marriage or having a family either,” I tell him, realizing as I say it that I can now see having it all with Emma. “Until Emma.”

“Someone’s got to keep the population count up. It’s not going to be me.”

Hunter leads me back to a conference room where I’m introduced to Walt and Tanya. We talk casually, about my background and my time at law school. Walt reviews my transcript.

“A 4.0 at UNLV. Graduated with honors. And a member of the Nevada Law Journal. Very impressive.”

“Thank you.”

“Tanya, did you have any more questions?” Walt asks.

“No, I think we’ve covered everything.”

“The position would involve travel. Your focus would be on the Las Vegas properties and contract negotiations. Most of the work can be done via video conferencing but every once and awhile it will be necessary to make the trip.”

“I understand,” I say, thinking that maybe this could be a good fit. I would be traveling to Las Vegas somewhat on a regular basis and that would allow me to see Sophie more often.

As Walt is talking, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the idea of this job. Of staying here with Emma. I can’t get ahead of myself. There’s still so much unknown. But in order to see if this life is even a possibility, I need to go down this path. Explore what my options are.

After the meeting, Hunter walks me back out to the reception area.

“We’ll be in touch about the job. And I’ll see you later at Barrett’s bachelor party.”

“Sounds good.”

On the cab ride back to Emma’s parents’ apartment, another text from Emma pops up.

Emma:We’re teasing all the guys with sexy photos of ourselves. I’m playing along, so here it is.

I click on the photo. It’s angled down the front of Emma’s robe. The robe is loose at the top, showing the top of her breasts, the silky material cuts right across the middle of her breasts, just covering her nipples. Then, the robe parts high on her thighs, where her legs are crossed exposing her smooth, toned legs.

Griffin:You look so fucking good. I wish I was seeing you tonight.

Emma:What would you do if you saw me?

What wouldn’t I do? I let myself indulge in her game, and allow myself to respond honestly.

Griffin:I’d spread your smooth thighs open and lick that sweet pussy of yours.

Emma:I’m sweating now. I was supposed to be teasing you, not the other way around.

I smile, imagining Emma fanning herself.

Griffin:Don’t worry, baby, you’ve got me so worked up. I’ll be thinking about you in the shower later.

Emma:Say ‘hi’ to the pleasure sword for me
