I can still feel Nathan’s eyes on us, heating my back. I’m so intoxicated by the feeling, Rhys’s condescending nickname for me doesn’t even register.

“Lettie.” I tell him. “That’s what my friends call me now. It’s what a guy I’m dating would call me.”

“Hmm, Lettie.” He repeats it, his deep masculine tone encases my nickname in seduction, causing gooseflesh to rise on my skin. He smells like whiskey and mint and temptation. His lips drop to my cheek. It’s supposed to be a chaste kiss, but somehow Rhys makes it feel like he’s licking me between my thighs. I don’t even let my brain begin to wonder what that would feel like.

“Do we have a deal, Lettie?” He asks.

I ignore the tingling sensation that Rhys’s lips have caused in my body and think about Nathan, the man I want. The man whom I can see myself falling for. The experience of love is what I’m after. And it appears that Rhys’s proposal could be the way to help me get it.

“Yes.” I surprise myself by how easy the word falls out.

Rhys smiles wickedly. “Perfect.”
