“Of course.” I nod.

“Hi, Sophie.” Hannah smiles at me. “Nice to see you again.”

I try not to let my cheeks flush. Hannah doesn’t know what her brother and I did this weekend, yet for some reason it feels like she can read my mind. Like every detail is written on my face. The spanking, the dirty talk, the sweaty, all-consuming sex and mind-bending orgasms her brother gave me.

I try to forget about Hunter and focus on taking detailed notes of the meeting.

As they’re talking about locations for the rehearsal dinner, I get caught up in the excitement.

I gasp with the sudden idea. “You should do the dinner at Loeb Boathouse. That’s where your family went for lunch every Sunday when you were growing up.” The words are out of my mouth before I comprehend what I’m saying. “I, uh,” I look up to find three sets of eyes on me, “I think that’s what I read somewhere. You know, in my research to help better understand what you might want for your big day.”

“Wow. I’m impressed with the research you’ve done.” Hannah smiles, but I swear there’s a knowing gleam in her eye. “James’s parents will want to have input, but I think the Loeb Boathouse at Central Park would be perfect. It fits in well with my ‘on the water’ theme.”

I give her an enthusiastic smile, appreciative that she doesn’t ask me about the research I’ve done.

When the meeting concludes, Marion walks Hannah out to the reception area, while Johnathan steers me back down the hallway toward his office.

“That was impressive, but also a little stalkerish.” He smirks.

“Yeah, not the best delivery.”

“Do I want to know your source?” His brows lift meaningfully.

I shake my head. “If I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.”

Johnathan lifts his hands to his shoulders. “Then it’s better if I don’t know.”

“Oh, before I forget, I wanted to give you this.” He hands me a card. “My friend’s cousin is the manager at The Penrose, a swanky cocktail lounge frequented by Wall Street types. She’s looking for a waitress and you mentioned you were looking for a second job. She needs Wednesday and Thursday nights. I told her about you. It might work with your schedule?”

“Thank you. This is perfect,” I say, reading the card’s details before tucking it into my planner.

When I get back to my desk, I input all the notes from the meeting with Hannah into her digital file and email it to Johnathan and Marion. Then, I grab my phone and reread the texts from Hunter. I’m so excited to go to the ballet with him. I know Emma would be my best resource for a dress, but I’m wondering if she would have a million questions about where I’m going.

I’m about to put my phone away when another text from him pops up.

Hunter:Plans this weekend?

I type out my response.

Sophie:I’m working a wedding on Saturday. You?

I’m wondering if I should ask him if he wants to hang out on Friday night when his text comes through.

Hunter:I’ve got an event Friday night. Dinner with Hannah and James on Sunday.

I sigh, hating that I’m disappointed I won’t see him until next Tuesday. It’s the sex I’ll be missing, I tell myself. It’s ridiculous how horny I’ve been lately. But when I tried to masturbate last night, it wasn’t as satisfying as usual. I wanted Hunter’s fingers stroking me, his cock stretching me.

June walks in and drops into her chair. Her sigh is heavy as she shakes her mouse vigorously to wake her computer.

“How’s it going over there?” I ask.

“Not great. My boyfriend was going to surprise me this weekend by flying here from Michigan.”

“Why isn’t that a good thing? Other than it sounds like the surprise was ruined.”

“He told me his plan when I mentioned that I was working Friday night. I wasn’t originally working, but I volunteered to work for Vesper because she’s visiting family.”

“Oh, no.”
