"I'll meet you in three hours at the diner off Highway 81. We'll figure this out together."

"Thank you," I breathe, relief washing over me like a guardian angel has finally shown me his presence.

I begin to imagine what a free, safe future would look like.

"Be careful, Diana," he warns before hanging up.

"And trust no one."

As I slip the phone back into place, my heart races with anticipation and fear.

What have I gotten myself into?

But I know deep down that this is the only way to protect my baby's future, and to finally break free from the chains that have held me captive for far too long.

"Three hours," I murmur to myself, glancing at the clock on the dashboard.

"Just three more hours."

I focus on my breathing, trying to keep calm as I wait for the time to pass.

My thoughts are a whirlwind of emotions – hope, fear, and the overwhelming desire to escape this life that has been chosen for me.

In the distance, the diner's neon sign flickers like a beacon, calling me towards the possibility of a new beginning.

And as I step into my car again, leaving the safety of the gas station behind, I know that there's no turning back now.

"Freedom," I whisper, the word tasting foreign yet sweet on my lips as I cradle my tummy.

"This is our chance, baby. Our chance to live the life we truly deserve."

I put on a hoodie, and walk into a little shop.

My plan is to buy myself some snacks, and coffee.

And then sit in the car until Agent Miller arrives.

I walk into the gas station, and a sweet, elderly man looks at me.

"Hello, dear," he says, giving me a smile.

"My name is Mr. Patel and if you need any help, just let me know."

"Thank you, Mr. Patel," I reply, trying to keep the fear out of my voice.

"I'm just grabbing some snacks and coffee. Could you point me in the right direction?"

He leads me to the back of the store, where I find an assortment of chips, drinks, and candy bars.

I grab a few items, then head to the cooler for a bottle of water.

As I reach for the door, the sound of gravel crunching under tires catches my attention, and I glance up to look out of the window and see a black SUV pulling into the gas station.

My heartbeat quickens as the vehicle comes to a stop at the pump opposite Frankie's Corolla.

There's something about the car that screams menace, and this time, I know it's not just my fear talking.

The driver's door opens slowly, revealing a tall, broad-shouldered man.
