He let me for a few minutes before he quietly said, “Nica is dying of impatience. I can hear his fidgeting from here.”

My eyes widened. I hadn’t realized he’d been keeping him out so I could continue my exploration. But we had time. I could explore anytime I wanted—I knew he’d let me.

I gave a nod and stepped to the side as Wey opened his wings. A moment later, he had an armful of tiger shifter. Nica seemed like he couldn’t stop running his hands all over Wey. I knew the feeling well.

Weylyn grabbed Nica with one arm, holding him tight against his body, and used his other hand to tilt Nica’s chin up, bringing him into a kiss. Nica groaned loudly, making my cock give a small twitch in my pants. He ran his hands along Wey’s bald head, over the plates on his neck, and grasped his beard with one hand.

They kissed for a long time, making my skin heat. I should’ve looked away to give them this moment, but I couldn’t tear my eyes off of them.

I heard Nica whisper, “Wey… your wings, they’re—”

Wey cut him off with a hot kiss.

Nica groaned and mumbled, “You’re so fucking gorgeous, Wey. Your wings are beautiful.”

“Nothing about me isbeautiful,” he growled against the tiger’s lips.

“Everything about you is beautiful,” Nica argued. I could see his smile from here, even as they kissed again.

I added, “I agree with Nica.”

Nica turned to me with a bright smile, holding out his hand. “If Theon says it, it must be true, Wey.”

Weylyn sighed, but I could see the smile he was trying to hide as he pulled both of us into his arms and circled us with his huge, beautifulwings. As twilight fell, the three of us shared kisses—Wey and Nica, me and Wey, Nica and me, all three of us together.

Nica

Iwoke with my nose pressed against Wey’s throat, and I breathed deeply, humming in satisfaction. He smelled like himself, of course, but his scent was mixed with Theon’s and my own. My little bird and I couldn’t keep our hands off him last night, and I loved that I could tell.

After pressing a kiss to the base of Wey’s throat, I nuzzled into him further. My gargoyle’s arms tightened around me, and his sleepy, raspy voice said, “We need to wake, Nica.”

I groaned. “Too comfy here.”

“Mm.”

I was pretty sure he was agreeing with me, so I pressed another kiss to his warm skin.

“We should get up anyway,” he said but didn’t make a move to do so.

As I nuzzled in again, my purr rumbling, I wrapped my arms more firmly around him, holding him to me. But my brow furrowed when I didn’t feel Theon against Wey’s back. “Where’s Theon?”

“He went for a walk with Braz.” Wey leaned back to kiss my forehead.

Since I knew Theon was perfectly safe with my best friend, I settled back into Wey. He ran his hands up and down my bare back for long minutes while I dozed, and I couldn’t help but think that we’d never had this before. This peacefulness, this calm. Even on our days of rest, there was never any true peace at House Natas. Not when at any moment, a guard could come into our cage and demand something from us or shove more poison down Weylyn’s throat. Not when our lives weren’t our own.

This peace, this was something I’d never hoped to experience. I may have wished for it, yes, but there hadn’t been any true hope. It had always been a dream, something so far out of reach I’d had a better chance of plucking a star from the sky.

I had Theon to thank for making such an impossible dream come true.

More than that, though, was this comfort I found between Theon and me, between Weylyn and me. Loving Theon had been easy from the start. He was kind and sweet and open in his affections, but loving Weylyn, well, that had never been easy. I’d loved him for years, but the intimacy and tenderness between us had always been fleeting.

Since Theon had come into our lives, Wey had been so much more affectionate toward me and more accepting of my affections in return. I couldn’t help but feel as if our connection was deepening even further now that we were away from House Natas.

I leaned back and pulled on Wey’s beard to bring his lips into a soft, lingering kiss, then ran my hand over his head and met his eyes with a smile. “I’m so happy you have your wings, Wey. So damn happy.”

His gaze softened, and he pressed another kiss to my lips. “Thanks, Nica. I’m hoping I can test them out today.”
