“Thank you, Jedrek,” Braz said, looking from my cousin to Theon and me.

Jedrek nodded and turned back into the trees, disappearing from sight.

I glanced at Theon. His eyes were downcast. We started forward again, and I slipped my hand into his.

He gave me a little smile and squeezed my fingers.

Setting up camp didn’t take long once we’d reached the clearing. Starting a small fire to cook with and laying out our bedrolls so they overlapped was about it. We’d sleep together as we’d become accustomed to, Theon sandwiched between Braz and I.

We’d done enough walking that sleep came easy once darkness had fallen.

Sometime later, when full dark was upon us and the fire had burned down to deep red embers, Theon rolled toward me with a little huff. The noise pulled me completely out of sleep, and I looked over at him. Braz’s light snores and the rustle of the light breeze through the blossoming tree leaves were the only noises.

“I can’t fall back to sleep,” Theon whispered, obviously having noticed I’d woken as well.

Rolling onto my side, I cuddled closer to him. “What can I do?”

He squirmed a little, and it took me a moment to realize he was embarrassed.

“Theon?”

He scooted closer, and his hardness pressed against my thigh.

“Oh,” I said on a breath and slid my hand down his side beneath the covers. Leaning forward, I caught his mouth with mine, sighing when he rubbed his tongue over my bottom lip.

We hadn’t done this very often. He and Braz had maintained a fairly active sex life, and while I always knew I was welcome in it, I hadn’t participated beyond some heated kisses with Theon. Theon and I had done a little more on our own. His hands on me. My mouth and hands on him. Still, sex, for the enjoyment of it, was something I was still coming to terms with. The scars Natas had left on my body weren’t the worst ones by far.

I slid my hand into Theon’s breeches, finding the solid length of him and stroking gently. He panted against my mouth, his hand searching for the opening at the front of my pants while his tongue caressed mine.

Heat pooled low in my belly, drawing tighter when Theon’s fingers found my cock. It wasn’t fully erect yet, but under his skilled ministrations, it grew hard and aching.

I broke our kiss, resting my forehead to his while we stroked each other, and pleasure built within me. We tried to keep quiet, our hot, panting breaths trapped in the small space between our faces. Theon stroked me faster as he started to shudder until he stilled, breath catching in his throat before he exhaled a quick rush of air, and his release shot warm and sticky all over my hand.

I grinned at him until he came back to himself and redoubled his efforts. A low moan escaped me, and Theon smiled, fast and feral. He kissed me hard, teeth catching on my bottom lip in a gentle nip. He was always so gentle with me. Somehow knowing I needed him to be.

My pleasure built like a storm, rolling over me until it pulled me under, breaking me into a million pieces. It was only Theon’s touch that held me together. His sure presence and soft lips. I came hard, a breath caught in the back of my throat and one hand fisting Theon’s shirt.

He hummed and whispered against my lips, “I think you needed that as much as I did.”

Once my breathing returned to normal, I kissed him. “Perhaps I did.” His face turned solemn—the same expression he’d worn most of the day—while we cleaned ourselves up and resettled under the covers, face to face with our legs tangled together. “What is it, sweet boy?”

“Do you think they’ll still want me?” His voice was small, like the answer to his question would break him.

“Oh, sweetheart, of course they do. They love you, Theon.” When he didn’t say anything, I continued. “Do you think Braz or I could ever turn you away?”

His gaze shot to mine. “No, of course not.”

“Then how could you ever think Wey or Nica would?”

He swallowed hard, eyes going shiny. “I left them behind.”

“And despite the hurt of that, they understand why. I know Nica has had a hard time accepting it, but he does understand. I know he does because Wey would make sure of it.”

Theon frowned. “How do you know?”

“Because Wey wrote to me.”

“He did?”
