“Hi Molls, how are you doing?” Noni answers with a small smirk, her eyes sparkling with excitement, before lifting her skirt to her thighs showing off a small snub nose pistol strapped to the inside of her thigh and a knife on the other. Her dress had long sleeves that were cut wide and flowing and when she pushed them back so she could show me the knives she had strapped to each forearm. I raised my eyebrows when I see them. “Now then, those look like fun,” I tell her.

“You can have them when we’re done with today. The snub nose only holds three bullets, but I figured that if I need to, I can make them count,” Noni answers before turning to Avy. “Show Molly what you got, Av’s.”

Avy also pulls her skirt up and shows me that she carries the same as Noni, but what makes me salivate are her knee-high boots. Lifting one leg up, Avy presses against the side of her boot and a knife protrudes from the toe of her boot.

“Oooo, that is so pretty. I want some,” I whisper, my hand automatically going to touch the blade when Avy presses something and it disappears.

They laugh at my pout. “I’ll get you some for Christmas,” Noni assures me.

“We’re ready and armed for anything, but what is our plan?” Avy inquired with interest.

“Well, I think we do what women have done in this position since the dawn of time to get information from stupid men,” I dryly reply.

When they look at me with confusion.

I sigh and roll my eyes, “We seduce him, you dummies. We’re three hot women and one of us will take his interest. Whoever it is needs to get him away from the party and somewhere private, and the rest of us will follow. We’ll then gently suggests that he fucks right off back to whatever hole he crawled out off, and leaves this village because if he doesn’t things won’t go well for him.”

Dog starts laughing, his shoulders shaking with mirth, “Jesus, Molly. You look so sweet and innocent, but you're diabolical. You’re going to keep my son on his toes. I like it and I like your plan. I’ll keep my distance until one of you snares him. I’ll only follow once you have him.”

It only takes forty-five minutes for us to arrive at the entrance. We’d passed Navy and Cairo a while back. They’d pulled in at a service station not far from the turnoff to the brewery.

I made a sound of disgust when I saw how long the queue at the gates was. We were going to have to join it to gain access to the property. With a small grimace, I noticed invites were being checked.

“Shit, Dog, what about an invite for you?” I muttered.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart, I have it here,” Dog replied, pulling an invite from his breast pocket. “Dave gave me a heads up and got me one too.”

“How ugly is that statue,” Avy muttered, pointing towards the gates before continuing in the same tone of disgust. “Ugh, how ostentatious can you get?”

I had to agree with her. There was a light-coloured brick wall running along the front of the property, the gates that we were waiting to be let through were black and gold with what I assumed were meant to be gold lions flanking them, but they looked slightly unaligned like the person making them had sort of just thrown them together without a care and then slapped gold paint on them. On each of the gate pillars was a plaque with Badger Brewery written in gold. Yep, this guy screamed of new money and no class.

It was finally our turn through the gate and after a tense few minutes when we’d handed our invites over to be checked off on a clipboard, we were allowed to proceed. We drove down a newly tarmacked road with trees lining the drive. It was a pretty property, with a large house looming up against the skyline in front of us. Not much different to Crow Manor, but because it was built with dark grey bricks, it looked dull and a bit scary in the waning afternoon sun. Up ahead, cars were slowing down and being shown where to park.

Dog found a parking spot as close to the doors as possible, blatantly ignoring the frantically waving parking attendant who was trying to get Dog to park where he was pointing.

Avy, Noni, and I laughed as the attendant threw his hands up in frustration before moving his attention to the next vehicle.

Dog switched off the vehicle and got out to open Noni’s door, helping her, then Avy and finally me, out of the vehicle.

“Remember, ladies, keep your wits about you and stay together as much as possible. I’m going to find myself a dark corner and blend in. If it all goes to shit, just scream, otherwise, stick to your plan. For God’s sake, don’t shed blood in front of anyone,” Dog orders us.

“Relax, Dog, we’ve got this,” Noni assures him, pressing a kiss to his cheek before holding out her arms. “Crow ladies, let's get this show on the road before Dog has a heart attack.”

I laugh and slip my arm through the crook of Noni’s arm and see Avy do the same on the other side. The three of us sashay towards the massive front door, following the crowd. We come to a stop in the doorway of what must have once been the ballroom. It was a truly beautiful room with sconces of lights on each wall and two massive chandeliers lighting up the rest of the ballroom. There was a string quartet set up in the far corner on a slightly raised platform, softly playing music. Wait staff dressed in black and white wandered around with trays of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. All in all, it was classy. Classier than I’d given Rupert Badger credit for.

“Right ladies, let's mingle,” Noni said, letting her arms fall to her sides. “But keep in each other's sight at all times,” she ordered, before stepping away and taking a drink from a tray and she disappeared. Following suite Avy and I took drinks and split up, to start hunting our host down. We all had a vague idea of what he looked like but the man was camera shy and what we’d found hadn’t been very clear at all.

Interestingly enough, I recognised a few well-known political members in the guests. Something for Skinny to check on once he was better. I made a mental note of names and faces to give to him as I continued to pretend to sip my drink as I wandered around. There seemed to be a large group of people, both men and women, gathered at one end of the ballroom. Loud, familiar female laughter was coming from there. Looks like Noni had found our man and was working her magic. I leant up against a wall slightly hidden by an open door but close enough to the group that I could keep an eye on Noni. Avy sidles up next to me, “Looks like Noni has scored,” she muttered softly with a smile.

“Yep, now we wait and hope she can get him away from the crowd,” I reply, faking another sip from my drink, my eyes restlessly roaming the room. They stopped on Dog propping up a column in the corner of the ballroom. He sent me a little wink. I couldn’t help but smile. Now I knew where Draco had got this charm from.

“Where do you think he’ll take her?” Avy asked.

“Mmmh, he can’t go too far with his guests here, so I would probably say his office. Why?”

“Because it looks like he’s making a move and I want to be in the room before they get there in case he locks us out,” Avy informs me.

“Good point,” I answered, looking up into Avy’s serious blue eyes. “You head out and find his office, but call me so that we can talk. I’ll follow along behind them.”
