“What the hell, Dave?” I said, looking up at him. “I don’t know this brewery, and you know I passed all my hygiene checks; all my licences are up to date, and I'm also a member of the Brewers Association.”

“I know, sweetheart,” Dave said. “Which is why I told him to sling his hook and to stop spouting bullshit about Raven Roost Brewery.”

“This is bad, Dave. I could lose my business,” I said worriedly.

Dave patted my hand. “I know, baby, that’s why you are going to get hold of the Brewers Association and the council today and inform them. You can give them my name if you need to.”

“Do you know his name?” Cairo enquired.

“Yep, he goes by Rupert Badger. Pussyfied name if you ask me,” Dave answers with a note of disgust in his voice.

Cairo and I chuckle at Dave’s comment. ‘It was a pussyfied name’,I thought to myself.

Leaning across the table, I press a kiss to Dave's cheek. “Thank you, Dave,” I say gratefully. “I appreciate you standing up for me, but you don't have to sell my beer if it's going to cause issues in your business.”

“Let me tell you something, missy,” Dave informs me. “There is absolutely no way I'll let that little peckerhead get away with bad-mouthing you and if my punters don't trust me and what I'm selling them, they can fuck off too. I have known you since the day you were born. Your granddad was one of my best friends and there is no way I'll ever stop buying from you.” He pauses, then jokingly says, “Well, I may have to when I'm six feet under.”

I can feel the tears welling in my eyes at his support. Getting up from my chair, I hug him tight. “Thanks, Dave,” I said softly.

Wiping a hand across my eyes, I pull myself together, straighten my back, look at Cairo, and ask, “Do you think Skinny would mind looking into Rupert Badger for me?”

“He won't mind,” Cairo replies with a sympathetic smile. “And there is no way Draco or the Crow MC are going to stand around while this prick trashes your business. I bet he hasn't approached Avy at the pub.”

“Yeah,” I agree, “Avy would have told me if he'd been in. He must know I have some ties to you guys, which means he’s done his homework while I’m totally in the dark.”

“Either that or he’s just really lazy and hasn’t got around to all the pubs yet,” Cairo replies.

“You go on, lass, find out what you can and let me know if you need me to speak to the association on your behalf,” Dave tells me.

Giving Dave another hug, I again say, “Thank you,” before we take our leave.

Cairo is on the phone before we even leave the pub. As I listen to his call, I have a feeling I know who he's calling. And I'm proved right when he says, “Hey VP, your woman has trouble on her doorstep.”

I hear Draco let off a slew of expletives and I roll my eyes when it hits me what Cairo called me.

‘When the hell did I become Draco’s woman’I wondered as Cairo waits until Draco’s finished muttering before giving him the information for Skinny, and I know that he’ll get right on it. It’s the way the MC works.

A part of me is relieved that I have them to lean on, even if I’m not used to it. This could completely ruin my business and I can’t lie, I'm worried.

CHAPTER 4

DRACO

I ended the call with Cairo. Taking all the information he'd given me, I went to hunt down Skinny.

I knew it. I just knew that there was going to be an issue and now someone was fucking with my woman. You always trust your gut. Walking into the clubhouse, I found Skinny at his usual table at the back with his computer setup. We probably should sort an office out for him.

Stopping at the table, I thumped down the paper I'd used to write all the information down on during my call with Cairo.

“Hey VP, what can I do for you?” Skinny asks, not even flinching at me banging the paper down on the table.

I filled him in on the conversation I had with Cairo and gave him Rupert cock womble Badger’s information, hoping he'll find something that we can use to stop him messing with my woman. And yes, she was my woman, I just had to get her on board. Enough messing around.

I didn't care if I pissed her off by taking over. Nobody, and I mean nobody, was going to mess with her if I had anything to say about it.

I stomped back out of the clubhouse, got on my bike, and headed next door to wait for Molly and Cairo to get back.

The best thing we’d done was open up the back road between Crow Manor and Molly’s place, Raven Roost. I was parking under her lean-to garage roof in under five minutes.
