“Do you mind if I ask you a really personal question?” Juliet asked. She’d been working up the courage to do so, but she didn’t want to step on Emma’s toes. Especially when she’d already been so nice and supportive.

“I can’t promise I’ll be able to answer, but you can ask.” Emma smiled encouragingly, obviously not put off by the request, which helped Juliet to gather her courage.

“How did your parents react to you and Jaxson and Chase?” It felt incredibly nosy to ask, but she wanted to know. If anyone might have faced parental disapproval, Emma seemed like a good candidate.

A woman marrying two men? And yet they were not only happy together, but they didn’t hide their relationship. Not from anyone. Thankfully, Emma didn’t seem to mind the question.

“My mom was supportive from the beginning. My dad on the other hand.” Emma made a face and laughed, and Juliet couldn’t help but laugh too. Something inside her relaxed as Emma answered. There was just something about the other woman that was incredibly comforting. “He had his reasons, some of which were valid. I’m sure if you’ve thought of all the reasons why you and Orlando might not be a great idea, your parents are going to think of those too. Over time he accepted it, especially when he saw how good we all were together and how well Jaxson and Chase treated me. Of course, he did throw a fit about me not being properly married when I got pregnant, but honestly, I think my dad’s relationship with Jaxson and Chase was better than ever after we got through that.”

Would her parents be accepting? Would Mona? Juliet knew Orlando didn’t care about what his biodad thought, but he did care about the others. Especially her dad and Mona.

She had a feeling her mom and stepdad would be accepting, just like Emma’s had been, but her dad… and she had no idea what Mona would think. It was their opinions that mattered the most, when it came right down to it. Because if one of them supported her and Orlando and one didn’t, that would almost be worse than a united front. Because if they disagreed, her and Orlando’s relationship could tear them apart.

Not that both of them being unhappy with her and Orlando having a romantic relationship would be that much better. And that’s what seemed like the most likely scenario, going by their reactions tonight. Unless they were only intervening because they thought Amara had put them in an uncomfortable position, and really they’d be completely supportive once they knew the truth. Somehow, Juliet doubted that though.

Why wasn’t love easier?

“Thank you for sharing with me,” she said, even though she didn’t feel as much better as she’d hoped.

Ever supportive, Emma reached out to envelop Juliet in a hug, which she returned. It wasn’t Emma’s fault that it was completely different scenarios. And it had been helpful to hear that eventually her dad had come around.

“Of course,” Emma said. “Good parents love their children unconditionally. I can’t imagine mine ever doing anything that would cause me to turn away from them, even if I disapproved. And, hopefully, I’ll always be open minded to approve as long as they’re happy. Because their happiness is what matters in the end.”

Yes, her dad would always put Juliet’s happiness first. He and her mom both had. But she was a little worried that he might lose his happiness because of hers. On the other hand, he and Mona were adults… weren’t they supposed to figure out their own relationships? The way she had to with whoever she ended up with?

Or was that selfish thinking?

She didn’t know.

Walking back out into the club, she said goodbye to Emma, very aware that she’d been away from Orlando a lot longer than she’d intended to be. She did actually feel a little better though, she realized, as she caught sight of him. Sitting at the booth waiting for her, he looked as anxious as she felt.

They were on the same page.

Neither of them wanted to hurt their parents.

Neither of them wanted to give the other up.

So at least they had that going for them.

Taking a deep breath, she walked over to the booth. Whatever decision they came to tonight, she would find a way to live with it.

Orlando

“What are you thinking?” Juliet asked as she slid into the booth across from him. She put the plug that had previous been in her ass on the table in front of her. His lips twitched with surprised amusement, but he wasn’t shocked.

Juliet wasn’t the type to want to have a serious discussion about the state of their relationship and their parents while wearing a plug. He couldn’t blame her. He wouldn’t want to be wearing one either. Still, seeing it and being reminded of their activities earlier that evening had the expected response from his dick. He couldn’t help it.

“I’m thinking that now all I can think about is getting inside your ass again.”

“Be serious,” she admonished, rolling her eyes, but she wasn’t able to stop her smile either. Orlando noticed she didn’t immediately go for her drink. Like him, she had it between her hands on the table, like she needed something to hold onto, but she didn’t actually pick it up.

He still hadn’t taken a sip of his either. Because he didn’t want a drink. He wanted to figure out what the hell they were going to do. What was going to happen next.

And then, depending on their decision, he might really want that drink.

“I am being serious.” He shrugged and nodded his head at the plug. “You’re the one who put the thought into my head.”
