When the sun began to set, signaling the end of the baby shower, Knox pulled me aside. His brow furrowed slightly. “I think we should get going soon. Everyone else seems to be disappearing,” he said, checking his watch. “It’s getting late, and I’m sure everyone’s tired.”

“Actually,” I said, biting my lip in anticipation, “there’s something else I’ve planned for tonight. A little surprise.”

“Really?” Knox looked puzzled but intrigued.

“Trust me, you’ll love it,” I assured him, taking his hand and leading him down towards the beach that lay just beyond Ryder’s property. As we walked, the bonfire’s glow became visible, illuminating the shoreline and casting a warm light on the faces of our friends who had gathered there.

“Surprise!” everyone shouted when we reached the beach, and I watched as Knox’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Happy birthday, Scotty!” Ghost yelled, raising a beer in salute to his friend.

“Summer, you planned all this?” Knox asked, clearly touched by the gesture.

“I did,” I replied, feeling my cheeks flush with pride. “You deserve it. But I had some help from Ghost and Ryder.”

The party was everything I’d hoped it would be — lively conversation, laughter, and dancing beneath the moonlit sky. Knox looked genuinely happy, and I reveled in the joy of making him feel special on his birthday. As we sat hand-in-hand around the fire, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we had reached a new level of connection, one that could only grow stronger from here.

“Gather around,” Ghost called out, grabbing his guitar and motioning for the rest of the band to join him. “In honor of our birthday boy, let’s play a little something, yeah?”

“Sounds like a plan,” Sid agreed, and Bash nodded along as he grabbed his drumsticks. They all settled down near the fire, their instruments in hand.

Knox glanced at me, a mixture of gratitude and amusement playing across his features. “You really thought of everything, didn’t you?”

I shrugged, feigning nonchalance while my heart raced with excitement. “Well, it’s not every day your boyfriend turns thirty.”

“True,” he grinned, leaning over to press a quick kiss to my lips before joining his bandmates by the fire.

As the boys of Ghost Parker began to strum their guitars and tap out rhythms on makeshift drums, I couldn’t help but marvel at the scene before me. The firelight danced across the sand, casting shadows that seemed to sway in time with the music. The sound of waves crashing against the shore provided a natural accompaniment, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and electrifying.

My eyes were drawn to Knox, who sat with his guitar cradled in his arms, fingers flying effortlessly across the strings. The flickering light bathed him in a warm glow, highlighting the angles of his handsome face and causing his eyes to sparkle like stars in the night sky. At that moment, he looked more beautiful than ever — a vision of raw talent and passion that left me breathless.

One song turned into two, and soon they were in a full-blown jam session. Knox couldn’t look more content playing with his band in front of the small crowd of his closest friends.

As the music continued to fill the air, the rest of the partygoers joined in, singing along, and some of the more inebriated ones danced around the fire. The mood was infectious, and I found myself swept up in the laughter and shared memories that bound this group together.

I looked over at Knox, his eyes meeting mine as he strummed the last chord. The small crowd clapped, appreciating the impromptu concert.

“Let’s drink to Knox,” Ghost announced, raising his beer bottle in the air. “And to many more years of making music and memories together. And to another kick-ass tour.”

“Cheers!” everyone chorused, and I felt my heart swell with happiness as we toasted to the man who had brought us all here, the one who held my hand and my heart, now and forevermore.

The laughter and music from the beach bonfire had long since faded, replaced by the gentle lull of crashing waves and the distant hooting of an owl. Well past midnight, Knox and I stumbled back to Ryder’s house and found ourselves wrapped in each other’s arms, lying on the plush guest bed at Ryder’s house, our fingers intertwined and our breaths mingling as one.

“Summer,” he whispered against my lips, his voice husky with desire. “I want you so much right now.”

“Mmm,” I breathed back, my heart racing with anticipation as I pressed my body closer to his. “I want you too.”

He captured my lips in a searing kiss, our mouths melding together in a dance of passion and need. His hands roamed over my skin, igniting a fire within me that burned with every touch. I reciprocated, caressing his smooth skin and feeling the strength of his muscles beneath my fingertips.

As our kisses grew more urgent, Knox quickly removed our clothes, leaving us bared to each other in both body and soul. The warmth of his skin sent shivers down my spine, and I marveled at how perfectly we fit together. Our joining was passionate and tender, each movement infused with the profound connection that had grown between us.

“Summer,” he groaned, his voice thick with emotion as he buried himself deep within me, our bodies moving in perfect unison. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Knox,” I gasped, overwhelmed by the intensity of our union. As we reached our peak together, I knew without a doubt that we had crossed a threshold in our relationship, entering a realm where love and trust reigned supreme.

The next morning, the sun streamed through the window, casting a golden glow across the bedroom floor. Knox’s arm draped protectively over me, his steady breaths warming the nape of my neck. Reluctantly, I untangled myself from his embrace and slipped out of bed so that I could use the bathroom.

Knox greeted me with a grin when I returned. “Good morning. Did you sleep well?”
