Page 21 of Ruthless Rage

I’m thankful for the interruption as three bottles of beer are placed down on the table before us. I nod my appreciation before taking a big gulp.

My gaze catches Ryker’s and I can tell we’re both looking for a different topic of conversation. I can sense his desire to grill Scar about the motorcycle gang she mentioned earlier in the Church. The Devil’s Brutes. I’m intrigued, but we also agreed that there was some investigating of our own that needed to be done first.

A smirk teases my lips at the memory of what happened with Emmett earlier and I’m just about to catch Ryker up when the smell of cheap perfume and sickly sweet cocktails overwhelms my senses.

The high-pitched giggle that comes moments later has me rolling my eyes at Ryker before I turn to find Molly and Ruthie standing at the end of the booth. They eye me, then Scarlett, then Ryker, followed by the empty spot beside me, but I keep my mouth shut.

They won’t take a seat here unless it’s offered to them and it sure as shit isn’t coming from me.

“Aren’t you going to introduce us to the new Ruthless Bitch, Gray?” Molly asks, eyes sharply aimed at Scarlett beside me, while Ruthie nods eagerly.

“Hi, I’m Scarlett.” She offers a small wave in acknowledgment before reaching for her beer, and her nonchalance seems to piss Molly off. Everything anyone does that isn’t in Molly’s favor pisses her off. It’s boring. She’s desperate to be someone’s old lady, but despite her efforts, no one is falling face-first to the ground with love for her.

“I wasn’t talking to you,” she states, hands planted on the table. “I was talking tomyGray.”

“Molly, no one here belongs to you. We’ve had this conversation far too many times and you’re just choosing to not listen,” Ryker says with a sigh, his irritation clear over the music that fills the room.

“Ryker, baby, I was here first and you haven’t invited me into the booth yet. But this new bitch strolls in, offering her cunt out to anyone and everyone and that seems to get her a seat.” She folds her arms over her chest while Ruthie sips at her cocktail, clearly quite happy to watch the drama unfold without actually getting involved like usual.

“Actually, I didn’t offer it out. Gray just managed to get an eyeful of my pretty pink pussy before I could cover myself,” Scarlett declares as she leans forward, bracing her elbows on the table as she locks eyes with Molly.

Fuck. After watching her put Emmett in his place earlier, I knew she was fire, but now, she has my cock screaming in my pants with need. I trail my hand down her spine, knowing Molly is watching my every move as I lean forward a little too.

“Please, Scar, you had ample time to cover your perky tits and needy cunt and you didn’t even attempt to hide from me. You can’t buy that level of confidence, sweet cheeks. And fuck, let’s be honest, with a body like that, I understand why.” I offer her a wink as she bites back an almost bashful smile, before I turn to look at the two whores before me.

I know I’m using Scar to piss Molly off, but I can’t help it. Not when she seems so willing and has a backbone of steel.

“Fuck, I bet that was hot to see,” Ryker adds, smirking from his seat as he runs his eyes over Scarlett, more obvious than ever to irritate Ruthie and Molly, and it works effortlessly.

“You will not believe what she did earlier,” I say with a chuckle, meeting Ryker’s gaze over Scarlett’s head, hoping to change the subject, but Molly isn’t giving up that easily.

“Gray, she doesn’t know you like I do. I bet she doesn’t even know your last name.”

When will this girl get the hint and fuck off?

Scar either senses my annoyance and wants to wind Molly up too or she’s naive and curious when she places her hand on my thigh and pulls my attention to her. “Gray, I can’t believe you haven’t told me your last name. I’m going to pass the fuck out with heartbreak if you don’t tell me right this second.”

Yup. Definitely the first thought. Her eyes sparkle with humor as she runs her tongue over her lips, and I have to force myself to answer before I crash my mouth to hers instead.

“It’s White.”

Her brows pinch for the briefest moment before her head falls back and she starts laughing. I can hear Ryker joining in with her and the corner of my mouth tilts up too. I was ruined as a kid with my fucking name, but now I think it’s fucking brilliant, especially when it makes her laugh like this.

“Of all the options in the world, Gray White is the winner. I love it,” Scarlett manages to say around her chuckles, before reaching for her beer. I’m very aware that my hand is still at the base of her spine, but as much as I tell myself to move it. I. Can’t.

“It’s notthatfunny that his name is two colors.” Molly scoffs, like she wasn’t the one to bring it up, but Scarlett doesn’t get a chance to say anything back when Ryker leans across the table to pat my shoulder.

“You were telling me about something she did earlier.”

I nod eagerly, smiling from ear to ear when I explain everything that went down with Scar, Emmett, and Emily. Right down to the fact that I’m ninety-nine percent sure Emily walked out of there in awe of her newfound friend.

“Fuck, now that’s something I would have paid to see,” Ryker finally manages when he calms his laughter down. Scarlett remains quiet, happy to assess the room and ignore the unwanted guests at the table instead of reaping all of the attention that’s on offer to her. “I wonder what else we will learn about you, Scarlett.”

She clears her throat as she tucks a loose tendril of hair behind her ear, shrugging slightly. “There’s not much to know.”

“Hey, I’ve just realized that I don’t knowyourlast name, sweet cheeks. Don’t make me die out on the floor right now. That shit will stain.” I fake-gasp as I plant my palm on my chest and pout at her, and she shakes her head in disbelief at my dramatics.

“My name is Scarlett Reeves.”
