“Which was…?” Gray encourages when he doesn’t immediately explain what he fucking wants.

“Don’t play fucking stupid with me. You took out the Ice Reapers and that was a bad move on your part.”

Before I can open my mouth, Emmett beats me to it. “Oh shit, I heard there was a big explosion out there on their compound. Were there any survivors?”

The man before us pinches the bridge of his nose in annoyance, before pointing his hand in our direction. “You fucking know there weren’t. You made damn sure of that.”

Axel sighs beside me, flicking the ash from his cigarette at his feet.

“We don’t know shit.”

“Oh, I can fucking tell you don’t know shit, which is exactly why I’m here to catch you up to speed.” His smirk darkens as he digs into his own pocket to retrieve a cigar, and I internally roll my eyes. Is this a fucking pissing contest based on the size of what they’re smoking?

Fuck. Me.

“I wasn’t aware we needed bringing up to speed on anything. Especially when we had no knowledge you existed until you barged in,” I state, trying to get to the actual fucking point.

“You messed around with more than you know. Plans had been made, deals had been agreed to, and you’ve caused a lot of trouble for yourselves.” He takes a deep drag of his cigar. Gray raps his knuckles on the table.

“You’re still not getting to the point,” he grumbles, his eyebrows raising to his hairline in exaggeration, which seems to piss this guy off more.

“You’re about two seconds from having a bullet in your skull, motherfucker.” His gun is out of his belt in the next breath, but he cleverly doesn’t aim it at anyone. Yet. But that does nothing to deter Gray. Nothing ever does.

“Please keep threatening me, you’re making my dick hard.”

Axel chuckles beside me, echoing the same noise coming from the rest of our men as our new enemy sends another warning shot into the air.

What is it with these fuckers making their presence known? It’s getting on my goddamn nerves.

“We had a deal with the Ice Reapers, guns for cash, a debt that now falls to you,” he bites out and his men inch closer behind him.

“Nothing falls to us because I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about,” I say with a scoff, reaching for my beer on the table and taking a swig. He’s really starting to get on my nerves.

“Everythingfalls to you. Besides, we had a deal with the previous Prez of your dumb fucking club too, and we expect you to uphold that as well.”

What?

“What deal might that have been?” Emmett asks as confusion floods my veins. He has to be lying. Our previous Prez may have been a cunt, but shit, he wouldn’t have a secret deal… would he?

Shit. Of course he fucking would. This is the kind of mess we were trying to dig into already in relation to my father’s death. Did these guys have involvement in that too?

Fuck.

“The deal where we get ten percent of each and every one of your drug runs.”

Silence rings out around us, irritation bubbling in my veins as I sneer at him. “Like fuck are you getting a single cent from us.”

“Oh, I am, Ryker Holden. I’m getting exactly what I want. And on top of that, you now owe me fifty fucking rifles to replace the ones lost in the explosion.”

Rising to my feet, I shake off my cut and turn to face him so we’re toe to toe. “Are you not hearing me? I said you’re not getting any money. Not a damn cent,” I reiterate, but he doesn’t absorb the information, so I clarify myself. “It’s almost cute that you think you can stroll in here and make demands, thinking I’m going to take them. That’s not how we operate. Now you have ten seconds to get off our compound before you learn exactly why we’re called the Ruthless Brothers.”

It’s on the tip of my fucking tongue to start counting him down, but to my surprise, he takes a step back and places his gun away. “Mark my words, Ryker, you’re going to want to obey me, it’s the safest path that all the clever little boys take.” I shake my head at him dismissively, but before I can decline, he nods his head toward the clubhouse. “Was that pretty little Scarlett Reeves I saw earlier? I’m sure it was. I wouldn't forget a sweet cunt like that anytime soon. Why don’t you ask her about me? She knows far too well what is expected and what happens when you don’t follow through.” My body tenses at his insinuation, making my heart beat faster for reasons I can’t even explain. “So, you’ve got seven days to get me what I want or it’ll beyoulearning how we got the name the Devil’s Brutes.”

SIXTEEN

Scarlett

The doorbarely slams shut before Emily is standing toe to toe with me, wagging her finger in my face as another gunshot sounds outside. My spine stiffens from the telltale ringing that vibrates in my ears, but when I don’t hear all hell break loose from the Ruthless Brother’s, I know it was a different gun that was shot this time.
