He points at the bike, his brows knitted as he looks at me. “You?”

“Yeah. Axel brought it for me.”

He whirls around, gaping at his friend who has his back turned to him. “When the fuck did you do that, Ax?”

“When you left.” His grunt is unsurprising, just like the fact that he doesn’t turn around to look at Gray either.

“You motherfucker!”

I frown at the annoyance on Gray’s face as opposed to the humor I’m used to seeing. Why the fuck is he mad about it?

“What am I missing?” I fold my arms over my chest, trying to put two and two together but coming up empty.

“This fucker knew where we were stopping on the way back from town and I was pissed when we showed up to the remnants of the Ice Reapers’ compound just now and found nothing there. Especially not the bike I was looking for.”

Wait, what?

“Just let it rest, Gray. Your favorite flavor of the week got her prized possession back, be happy about it.” Axel still doesn’t look around, which only seems to piss Gray off more.

“But the good deed was for me to do, not you, asshole.” Gray turns to me, annoyance in his eyes as he waves his hands at Axel, but I don’t know what I’m supposed to say or do.

Ryker clears his throat, patting Emmett on the shoulder as he ushers him around to where I’m standing. “Emmett, go and relax. Sleep, fuck, whatever you want, and I’ll take these two assholes inside and update everyone on what happened last night.”

Axel moves toward the door without a backward glance as Gray stomps after him, still muttering under his breath about making shitty moves. Once Ryker has left as well, Emmett finally looks down, exhaustion darkening his eyes as he sighs.

“Keep me company?”

I lift my hand to his face, running my finger just under his bruised eye. He doesn’t wince or pull away; he just continues to stare at me with his arms relaxed at his sides. “Sure.”

I nod and take a step back, running my fingers over my seat one final time before heading to the door. Emmett is right behind me as I step inside.

“Have you broken through Axel’s armor?” Emmett asks as we move into the hallway that leads to the private area, and I scoff as he opens his bedroom door.

“Please, it’s a chink at most and even that feels like I’m over exaggerating,” I reply, hovering at the entrance as he sits on his bed. Not wanting to discuss whatever the fuck just happened out there, I clear my throat. “Is Emily okay? I kind of got swamped by my own bullshit last night, so I was no use to her, but I’ve been worrying about her.”

I expect him to be mad for some reason, but a tired smile touches the corner of his mouth. “She’s in class, Duffer is watching her. She told me you had a lot going on last night and that I should come check on you when I got back.”

Fucking Emily. When did they make friends like her?

“She should be worrying about you instead of me,” I reply.

“Oh, she put my ass through the wringer for making her worry. I’m hoping that means she was worried about me, but who knows.” He shrugs, a lightness to him that’s only there when he’s talking about his sister.

I smile softly in response as I nod at his bed. “Are you going to nap now or do you want me to take a look at your stitches?”

He shakes his head immediately, before running his hand over his beard. “Sleep isn’t going to help me, and my stitches can wait. But I’m too tired to get my dick up too. So I can’t do anything Ryker suggested ,” he says with a smirk, and I chuckle softly.

“We can hang out for a bit,” I offer, and he scoffs.

“I don’t play video games, Scarlett.”

“I wasn’t saying you had to,” I retort with a quirk of my eyebrow. “So what do you do to unwind that doesn’t involve sleeping or fucking?”

He rakes his teeth over his bottom lip as he glances down at the ink on his forearms. “You want to get a tattoo?” I ask, almost feeling dumb saying it so cautiously, and his smirk widens.

“No, well, yeah, but I also like to do them.”

My eyes widen. “Are you saying you’re good with a tattoo gun?”
