They’re ready. All of them. Eric included. There’s a fire around this table that I haven’t felt in a very long time, and with how everyone is looking at us, they know it too.

It’s a new era, a new dawn, and a new enemy, but that won’t make us falter.

Ryker rises from his seat, nodding, but I can tell he’s deep in thought for a moment before he finally settles his eyes on the gavel in front of him. “They’ll likely know that Emmett and Euro are back now and that we have the full story. They’ll be expecting the same response we gave the Reapers, but they’re not going to get it. Rest up, we’re going to place a few more feelers around town, and then we’re going to strike. We just have to know where we’re aiming first.”

The gavel hits the wood, ending the discussion, not that there’s anything left to be said, and everyone starts to disperse around us. I rock back in my seat, tapping my fingers on the table as the need to release some steam takes over me, but I instantly sense a glare coming from Gray. It’s like he’s had it on pause the entire time, instead of just getting over it.

I want to stand and walk away, but Gray’s the kind of annoying asshole that will just follow me, which will only draw more attention our way, and I really can’t deal with that right now. Instead, I maintain my spot as everyone leaves. I expect Ryker to go too, but instead he holds the door closed, folding his arms over his chest as he looks between us.

“You two need to get over whatever bullshit this is. The Devil’s Brutes require our full attention andnotmy Brothers causing shit within the club.”

“Please, everything was good until this asshole decided to pull the rug from under me,” Gray retorts with a pout, wagging his finger in my direction.

“Last night, after I fucking mouthed off at her for causing a scene, you basically ripped me a new asshole. So I decide to be the bigger man and get over myself and that’s not good enough either.” I cock a brow at him, my fingers itching for the cigarette packet in my pocket.

“You fucking did that by taking away the gift I was going to give her.”

“Does it matterwhogave it to her when she still got it in the end?” My chest tightens, annoyance creeping up my spine with every breath that passes, but he shakes his head at me like I’m the one not listening.

“How about the pair of you get a fucking grip? You weren’t mad when Emmett fucked Scarlett, or shit, when I literally kicked you out of the garage to do the same. Did Axel step on your toes with the bike? Probably, but it’s not worth this bullshit.”

“The bike is more personal. The bikemeanssomething,” Gray grinds out as I scoff.

“No, it doesn’t.”

“Yes, it does.” Gray is quick to retort as Ryker shakes his head in disbelief at us.

“Do you actually hear yourselves?”

A knock sounds from the door, but none of us respond as we continue to stare each other down.

“I just don’t understand why you would play me like that, man?” Gray sounds defeated, like I’ve pissed on his fries or something, but I can’t comprehend why.

The knock sounds again, and despite Ryker blocking the door, it still manages to open. Maggie steps around him with her hands folded over her chest and a pinch to her eyebrows. “I don’t know why you bothered shutting the door, everyone can fucking hear you.”

I balk at that, scraping my chair back along the floor as I stand. “I’m not doing this.”

Before I can get to Ryker, Gray’s words hold me in place. “I’m feeling things. Things I can’t really explain, and they all circle around her.”

Fuck.

“We can’t trust her, Gray.”

“But we can give her a two-wheeled vehicle to escape with?” His retort is quick, annoyed, and snarky.

Clenching my hands at my sides, I consider how to respond in a way that doesn’t make me look like even more of an asshole, but it’s harder than it seems.

“The four of you will figure your shit out eventually,” Maggie murmurs, her sweet voice slicing through the otherwise gruff air around us. “You each need your own time alone and with her.”

“With her?” It’s Ryker’s turn to give her a questioning glance, but she simply brushes him off with a wave of her hand.

“Don’t play dumb with me. Scarlett showed up here as everything was changing and has worked her way under your skin whether you like it or not.” She ends her sentence looking directly at me, and I grunt.

“Whatever, I’m done. Tell her the bike was from you, I don’t give a shit, and I’m sure she’ll still let you fuck her tonight either way,” I say, shouldering past Ryker before any of them can stop me. My fingers are clenched around my cigarette packet as I storm through the bar area toward the door, plucking a smoke from the packet, and the second I’m outside in the sunlight, I flick my lighter and watch the end burn.

I inhale deeply, hating my dependency on yet another vice that has sunken its claws into my flesh, but it doesn’t stop me from taking another pull of the cigarette, followed all too quickly with another.

The door creaks behind me, and the sweet scent of cherries tells me who it is without turning around. “I don’t need you saying shit like that to me. I don’t have anyone under my skin, and certainly nother. She can’t be trusted. There’s something we don’t know about her and that’s all I’m interested in figuring out.”
