Page 67 of Savored Innocence

I sink lower into the blankets. “It’s probably going to be a long time, Daddy, before I’ll be well enough for you to punish me.” I start coughing.

He leans over my face, placing his hand over my mouth to still me. “That’s all right, baby girl. Because I’m going to savor every bit of it, your pouting, your whimpers, your crying. It will all be worth the wait.”

I swallow hard against his hand. I have no doubt he can be a patient man when he sees the reward well worth it.

“You’re going to savor me?” I ask the moment he pulls his hand away.

“Every bit of you,malyshka.”

“I love you, Daddy,” I say then kiss him.

“I love you too,malyshka.”

A year later…

Billie

“Areyou going to be a good girl now?” Roman’s voice still sends shivers down my spine when he uses the full force of his daddy voice.

“Yes.” I nod from the corner that I’m facing. I’ve been standing here forever while he paced around our bedroom lecturing me about the effects of coffee on an empty stomach. He just refuses to understand that coffee is a gift from heaven and to deny me is basically abuse. I think the threat to report him for it might have been the straw that broke him.

“Are you going to drink coffee before you’ve had your breakfast anymore?”

I can’t see him, but I can imagine him well enough. He’s probably got his arms crossed over his chest while glaring at my back.

“Yes.” I nod. A giggle slips out.

“Yes?” He actually sounds surprised at my honesty.

I turn around, which makes his left eyebrow arch almost to a sharp point.

“I’m not going to lie, Daddy. I like coffee in the morning, but I don’t like eating until later. So.” I shrug. “I’m probably going to keep having coffee on an empty stomach.”

He shakes his head with a heavy sigh. “Then I’m probably going to have to keep your ass nice and red. Come here.” He crooks his finger at me.

“You know this isn’t very fair. This isn’t my fault.” This tactic never actually works, but it at least gets a smile from him sometimes. At least when I’m not in serious trouble, though he’s looking a little irritated this morning.

“How is this not your fault?” He tilts his head.

“Well, you weren’t supposed to be home. You were supposed to be gone by now.”

He huffs a small laugh and shakes his head. “You need to get better excuses. I’m home because we are leaving this afternoon to drive up to New York to visit my brothers and my father.” He narrows his eyes. “Remember?”

“Of course I remember.” I do; I’ve been waiting for this weekend trip for months. I’ll get to see Hanna and her new baby while we’re there. “It’s just, I thought you were going to work this morning then come home in the afternoon to get me.”

“Hmmm, I’m starting to think you got caught on purpose. We had a whole discussion about this last night, about how you wanted to go to work but I said no, that you were taking the whole day off.”

We did have that conversation. Since our wedding six months ago, I stopped working for Masters Property Management completely and focused only on our properties. Roman’s added two more since he waltzed back into my life a little over a year ago.

“Besides, Mandy is coming over this morning with Renee. How do you know that I wasn’t making a pot of coffee for her?” I put my hands on my hips. Mandy’s still breastfeeding her beautiful baby girl and has given up caffeine and alcohol, but he doesn’t need to know that.

“Are you lying to Daddy?” He’s trying to sound tough, but I know his tones well enough by now to know, he finds me too adorable to get any angrier than he already is.

I drop my hands. “I’m just saying, it’s a theory.”

“I have my own theories. Like, you have a problem obeying and it’s up to me to help you. Now, come here.” He points to the floor in front of him.

“Can’t we compromise?” I ask while shuffling toward him.
