“Fragrances?” Garrick’s eyebrows shot up.

“And you missed this meeting the other night,” Bastian stated, placing a hand on Garrick’s shoulder.

“Yes. Because Garrick got all involved when it’s none of his business.” She shot her words right at the source.

“Your tone.” Garrick pointed at her. “Watch it.”

She bit down on the inside of her cheek, remembering exactly what he’d threatened her with a few moments ago.

“Why did Ursa ask you to do this? What did she give you in return?” Bastian continued his questions.

“Money.” She sighed. “She gave me enough money to get started here. I didn’t have much in my savings, and if I withdrew it all, the bank would have alerted dad.”

Bastian nodded. “Yeah. They would have.” He thought a moment. “Did you sign anything? Did she give you contact?”

“She’s my aunt, Bastian.” She answered.

“Did you sign anything?” Bastian asked again, hitting each word hard.

She looked away from him.

“You did,” Bastian stated. “What were the terms?”

“Nothing. It was a receipt. Just that she’d given me the money and what it was for. That’s all.” Her insides shrunk. Could Ursa somehow turn that against her?

“All right.” Bastian worked his belt back into the loops of his trousers.

“Why my club?” Garrick questioned. “Ares knows better than to be there, so why would she send him there to meet you?”

Ariella shrugged. “I have no idea. She never mentioned you, just that I was to meet him at Notes.”

Garrick glanced up at Bastian.

“We’ll figure it out.” Bastian pointed at her bunched-up clothes at her feet. “Get changed.”

“Changed?” She grabbed her clothes and tugged them up around her waist again. She couldn’t help noticing the wetness sliding down her thighs. Garrick must have noticed, too. His gaze settled on her legs, and a grin spread across his lips.

“Yeah. Put on clothes. You’re not staying here.” Bastian buckled his belt.

“No. I’m not leaving with you. I have an appointment tomorrow to look at an apartment. This hotel is temporary. I’m not going home.” She followed him across the room to the closet. He grabbed her suitcase. She made a grab for it, but with one hard look from him, she backed off.

“You’re not going home. You’re staying with me.” Bastian tossed the suitcase on the bed. “I still have to do some business here. When I’m done, then we’ll go home.” He yanked the dresser drawer open, scooped up her clothes, and tossed them in the suitcase.

“No.” She tried to get her stuff out of the suitcase, but Garrick grabbed her arm and pulled her away.

“You two can stay at my place.” Garrick caught Bastian’s attention. “We’ll have a better chance at keeping an eye on her there.”

Bastian nodded.

“Thanks.”

“I said no.” Ariella jerked free of Garrick’s grip.

“I heard you, Princess.” Garrick brushed past her to the bathroom. A moment later, he came out with her toiletry bags.

The two of them were insane.

“I’m not leaving.” She threw herself on the chair she’d just bent over and folded her arms tightly over her chest.
