Another thrust and the spring broke, propelling her into an all-consuming orgasm. She screamed against his hand and then into the open air when he moved it, making her release all the more intense. Tears fell from her eyes as the waves of her orgasm bordered on painful.

She dropped her hands to her sides and turned her head to the side on the pillow. Sucking in air.

He cradled her face in one hand, pulling her back to him. Slamming his mouth over hers again, he kept her breath hostage, this time in a kiss. He thrust once, twice, three times more before his body stilled. Only then did he break the kiss, arching back and roaring his release. His face reddened, and every muscle of his chest tightened.

He was a beautiful sight.

Moments later, he fell forward, his head resting on her shoulder. She wrapped her arms around him, running her fingers through his hair. A calm came over her, having him pressed to her body. His heart beat so hard, she could feel it against her chest.

“I know you thought I didn’t like you,” he said, pushing up to his elbows and hovering over her face. “Before. But I did. Too much.”

“You didn’t think me a pain in the ass? You always had a disappointed look on your face when you were around me.”

He gave an easy smile. “You were a huge pain in the ass, and I was disappointed. I was disappointed I couldn’t pull you over my knee and teach you a lesson.” He pinched her hip. “But I can now and plan to do it every single time you need it.”

She rolled her eyes.

He chuckled.

“Never do that in front of Garrick. He hates it, and he’ll tan your ass without warning if he sees it.” He kissed the tip of her nose.

“I’ll make a note of that.” She laughed. “What else should I know?”

Laughter colored his eyes.

“I think I’ll let you figure the rest out for yourself. It’s more fun that way.”

“Fun for who?” She asked, shoving his chest playfully.

“Us.” He winked.

CHAPTER22

Garrick

* * *

“Is she ready?”Garrick stepped up to the bar where Bastian sat with an untouched drink. Notes was packed, every seat in the main room was filled, and the bar area was past standing room only.

“Yeah. Just waiting her turn to hit the stage,” Bastian said, keeping a watchful eye on the stage. Garrick had been particular with the construction when he’d bought the club. Not only did he want to recreate what his mother had built, but he wanted the stage visible from every spot in the place. So, if someone got stuck back in the bar area, they could still see the singer on stage.

“Why are you here then? Why aren’t you waiting with her?” Garrick checked his watch. She was going on in two minutes. “She’s probably nervous.”

Bastian cast a look up at him. “That woman doesn’t get nervous when it comes to her music, but she does get annoyed when I hover.”

Garrick grinned. “She sent you away.” He could imagine the way that conversation had gone. If he hadn’t been stuck with his accountant, he could have been with her. But she probably would have kicked him out of his club.

“She did.” Bastian finally picked up his drink and sipped. “You should teach her some manners.”

Garrick laughed. “Me? Why me? You were with her; you should take care of it.”

Bastian lifted his eyebrows. “If I touched her, I’m not sure I would have let her get on stage at all.”

“She’s going on.” Garrick nudged Bastian with his elbow as the spotlight lit up the stage, and Ariella glided out with her guitar. She’d dressed casually for her set, a simple black and white dress and a pair of ballet flats. Her hair was loose around her shoulders, thick red curls contrasting the darkness of the dress perfectly.

The crowd quieted as she settled on the stool in front of the microphone, tucking her feet behind the little bar of the stool legs. She cleared her throat while pulling her guitar onto her lap and slid her fingers over the strings.

Without any introduction, she launched into her song. A pretty ballad about a girl leaving home in search of a new world. Garrick glanced down at Bastian, noticing his tight jaw.
