“I know that as soon as you know what I know, you’ll let Peter get working on me again.” Ares spat more blood, this time right next to Bastian’s shoe.

Bastian pulled back his hand and unleashed his fist straight into Ares’s mouth. He grunted as his head fell back.

“Where is she?” Bastian asked again.

Ares’ head rolled back into position, and he ran his tongue over the corner of his mouth, licking at the new split in his lip.

Bastian reached into his pocket and pulled out his pocketknife. Ares’ eyes widened.

“Wait.” Ares tried to pull back, but he had nowhere to go.

Bastian pressed the tip of the knife to Ares’s shoulder. He shoved until the tip broke through the skin.

“Fuck!” Ares bellowed.

“You might want to start talking,” Peter said. “He’s looking like he’s having fun.”

Bastian pushed more, slicing through muscle. He twisted the knife, making Ares bellow in pain.

“Fuck! Fuck! Fine!” Ares stomped his feet. Blood ran down his arm. When Bastian pulled the knife out, a bright red trail of blood followed.

Garrick grabbed Ares wounded shoulder, making Ares cry out again.

“Talk.”

Ares sucked in a breath. “I don’t know where she is. I only know Ursa, that fucking cunt, had me do that swap with the redhead.”

Garrick squeezed the shoulder harder.

“Fuck! I’m serious. I’m telling you the truth.”

Bastian tapped Garrick’s back, getting him to let go.

“Explain,” Bastian ordered.

“I owed Beatrix, and when she went away, that fucking cunt Ursa took over everything Beatrix had running. The contracts owed to Beatrix went to her.”

“How was she going to enforce that?” Garrick asked.

“She’d make my life hell if I didn’t honor it. Besides, it was one fucking contract. And the money?” Ares stopped with a laugh. “The money is fucking insane. That woman has no fucking soul. She’s worse than Beatrix. But she brings in so much cash I don’t think anyone cares.”

“I promise you that’s not true,” Ash interjected.

“She called in your contract.” Bastian prompted. Every minute they were in Ash’s dungeon with this prick was another minute they weren’t getting to Ariella.

“Yeah, she wanted me to make that drop with the redhead.”

“And the girls? The shipment?” Bastian urged.

“There’s none.” Ares shook his head. “She just wanted it to look like there was a delivery.”

“She’s setting Ariella up.” Bastian clenched his jaw. “What about tonight? At the club?”

Ares shrugged, wincing as he did. “Ursa got all freaked out when she found out the girl was staying with you two. She needed to get her away from you. She had someone coming to Kassel to get her, but I don’t know where they were going after the pick-up.”

Bastian put the knife to his shoulder again.

“Who?”
