When he sat down, he tugged the fabric up out of the way so we could both watch as he pulled me down onto his cock again. I sank down much easier than before, and veil, it felt so damn good.

“If you sleep like this, I’m going to wake up partway through the night to get you off. Probably more than once,” Kierden warned me as he lowered us both to the bed.

“Feel free,” I breathed.

He brushed a kiss to my forehead. “Sleep well, Nissa. Despite the misery of this evening, I’ll cherish the memories of tonight as the best of my life.”

Emotions swelled in my chest. “Me too.”

He kissed my shoulder, and I drifted off with the soft words of our bond echoing in my mind, itching to be spoken.

“Sillah ovim rett warum.”

“Sillah ovim rett warum.”

“Sillah ovim rett warum.”

I pressed my lips to his chest to keep myself silent, and the urge passed as I fell asleep.

Kierden woke me with his face between my thighs an hour later, and rolled me onto my abdomen before he drove his cock into me from behind, bringing my pleasure to new heights before we fell back asleep.

I woke him an hour after that with my mouth on his erection, tasting us both on his skin before he seated me on his cock backward and slammed into me again, again, and again.

The night passed by in a haze… and quickly rolled into the next day.

The next handful of weeks went by in a whirlwind of farming, delicious food, and sex. We explored the library a bit, but Kierden joined me in the fields most of the days, learning how to harvest and plant with me.

Our breakfasts were spent in the castle’s dining hall, conversing with the other fae. Our lunch breaks were full of fresh fruit and conversation, alone in my house just off the farm. Our dinners were always back in the castle, laughing with the elves as they and the fae told story after story of the long lives they’d lived.

They were the most blissful weeks of my life.

We didn’t discuss making our bond permanent, but Kierden had told me he planned on reigniting it after the eclipse so my magic didn’t overwhelm me.

Bright and Death spent most of their time in the jungle together. Though we missed them, we were thrilled for them. He was pursuing her with every damn ounce of effort he had, and we kept waiting for them to come back mated. They frequently smelled the Beast while out in the Wilds, but as everyone kept reminding me, he wouldn’t go near the esu.

A few nights before the eclipse, Bright’s panicked cry cut into my mind in the middle of the night, waking me up suddenly.“Nissa!”

Jerking upright, I sucked in a deep, staggered breath.“What happened? What’s wrong?”

“The Beast took Death. We just mated a few hours ago—he’s my mate.”The fear in her voice was thick.“He’s hurt. I don’t know how bad. I can smell Kierden in the Wilds; I think he’s on his way. We need to get the elves—they’re the only chance we have.”

My head jerked to the side, and I realized the bed was empty.

Terror crashed into me.

The Beast couldn’t kill Death, though he could wound him badly.

But he could kill Kierden.

Heneededto kill Kierden.

It was his last chance to do so, because when the suns eclipsed in the morning, his vow would break if my mate was still alive.

“I’ll get Alida,”I said, scrambling toward the door in nothing but the massive white shirt I wore as a nightgown. There was a thin layer of ice over the door—Kierden’s quick attempt to stop me from going after him, the absolute bastard—but when I rammed it with my shoulder, I broke through easily.

He knew better than to truly trap me anywhere. I would kick his ass to the veil and back, and still be absolutely furious.

My hair and massive shirt swayed and bounced with me as I sprinted down the hallway. I knew the general direction of the elves’ rooms, but I’d never been there before, so I yelled as I neared them, “Alida!”
