He tilted my head back slightly with his grip on my face, then captured my lips in his.

There was no hesitation. No pause. No fear. No question. Just his mouth on mine.

It was soft at first. He was giving me time to push him away, I supposed.

But I didn’t want to push him away. I wanted him, the same way he wanted me.

It was my first kiss, but I wasn’t nervous. Not with his grip on my face and his mouth on mine. I trusted him to take care of me.

He parted my lips, and we groaned together as his tongue stroked mine. The contact was strange, but perfect. Nothing like I’d expected, and yet so much more than I’d hoped for at the same time.

Kierden pulled away after a few minutes, and it made me fiercely proud when I saw his chest rising and falling almost as quickly as my own. He took a step back, burying his hand in his hair and gripping tightly, as if trying to resist grabbing me again.

His gaze was hot as it moved up and down my skin slowly. “How much ale did you drink?”

I lifted a shoulder. “Not much.” Though I still felt flushed and a little dizzy, I found myself not minding it anymore.

“That was your first glass?”

I nodded.

“And it was watered down?”

“Yes. Why are you asking me this?” I eyed him, wishing he’d go back to kissing me already. While I looked at him, I debated the merits of throwing myself at him, so he had no choice but to start kissing me again.

“I’m trying to decide how much of an asshole I’d be if I stripped you bare and licked you until you unraveled on my tongue,” he growled back.

Oh.

Ohhhh.

“Not an asshole,” I said quickly. “Not at all.”

Veil, I wasdyingto know how that would feel.

“A drunk female would feel the same way.” He slid his hands into his pockets.

I was losing him.

If I didn’t convince him immediately, my night was going to end in more talking.

And… I didn’t want to talk anymore. I wanted to be distracted. Preferably by his fingers and mouth.

“You could touch me again,” I said.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “A drunk female would say that, too. The last thing I want is for you to wake up feeling violated.”

Damn him for caring.

Even though I really did appreciate that. I just… well, I wanted to be violated by him.

“I let you touch me before,” I told him. “So technically, I already gave you permission to do that.”

His gaze was skeptical.

I rose to my feet and stepped toward him until our chests collided. His hands landed on my hips, and his skepticism grew softer.

“That woman touched you,” I said. “I saw it. She touched you and she offered to be your mate, so I left. What did you say to her after I was gone?”
