The green form makes a sudden dash on Vippera, who herself gears up for combat. Orbs of magic begin flying between the two as they exchange hit after hit. Bursts of colors start lighting up the sky.

The chaotic sight begins a battle for the ages. All around us, people start fighting as the King’s army starts clashing swords with Vippera’s legion. Townspeople join in on the fight, by now knowing that the King’s army is on their side. They grab anything they can find and start swinging.

“Watch out!” yells Slyth, pointing behind me.

I spin around just in time to counter an enemy soldier’s attack, catching the hilt of his sword in my hands. I kick him back and swing at him, decapitating his head. Beside me, Slyth has obtained a weapon of his own, having disposed of another enemy.

The battle is in full swing, with the winner determining the outcome of Lodra's future. With a sword in hand, I become filled with a surge of adrenaline, eager to save the village from this invasion.

“Stick together!” I yell as more soldiers come our way. Some of my men join Slyth and I as we collide with the enemies. A soldier comes swinging at me, his blade coming dangerously close as I dodge it by an inch.

He swings again, and I parry it, sliding my blade down until it hits his hands. The enemy yelps and lets go of the sword. I reel mine back and stick it through his torso, a gasp coming from the soldier as I seize the air from his lungs.

I look to my left, watching as Slyth holds his own against two men. I run over to him. He spots me and bends over as I roll over his back, batting away a flanking attack from one of his attackers.

Our swords meet in a deadly clash. This soldier is stronger than me, pushing his full weight down as my knees begin to buckle. I lunge forward, sinking my teeth into his neck and biting down as hard as I can.

The naga’s scream quickly turns into a gurgle as I rip his throat out, spitting it on the ground. Behind me, Slyth kicks a soldier my way. I thrust my sword forward, the blade traveling cleanly through his body.

With the enemies in our vicinity distracted by other allies, Slyth and I regroup. I look at Rory, watching as her form takes several hits from Vippera. She seemingly absorbs the hits and sends them back to the tyrant who just narrowly avoids being obliterated.

One shot gets deflected and heads straight for us. I push Slyth away and jump aside, the orb of magic hitting the spot where we stood. Had we not moved, my servant and I would have been toast.

I land hard in the dirt. I hear nothing but faint screams as a ringing sound plagues my head. In the distance, I think I hear someone calling my name. Slyth, with a bloodied face, appears over me, offering a hand.

“Zalith, are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” I say shakily. “Where are the King and Queen?”

“They’re over there!” he yells, pointing some distance away. I follow his line of sight, spotting my parents on their knees, surrounded by a group of fighting soldiers.

“We must get to them!”

“Right behind you, Zalith!”

An arrow comes flying my way but I cast a shield in the nick of time, narrowly avoiding a swift end. With my lack of armor, I have to be careful. There’s no time to steal some off of the corpses scattered nearby.

If I stop, even for just one moment, I’m as good as dead. My parents are some distance away but I’m going to fight with my life to get to them. With Rory holding her own and Slyth fighting by my side, I know there’s a chance we might just win this.

I collide with a duo of enemy soldiers. They swing their swords in a downward attack. I raise mine, catching their blades before kicking the enemy to my right. It gets rid of him momentarily and distracts the remaining soldier, whose chest I slice open.

I cast a flame at the other soldier as he recovers, igniting his body on fire. He screams as he darts away in the opposite direction, hitting others as he runs before eventually collapsing.

“Zalith, we’ve created an opening!” yells Slyth. “Let’s move forward, quickly!”

We run for it, advancing closer to my parents. Just as Slyth and I come close to them, another soldier steps in our way. He stands taller than both of us, boasting a wide frame. In his arms is a flail, at the end of which hangs a spiked ball decorated with blood.

Slyth and I charge him, narrowly avoiding his first swing by rolling. I turn to swipe at him but he punches me, the force of his fists sending me into the air. Luckily, I land beside my parents.

I scurry and unbind their restraints. As they get to their feet, I grab a second sword. I look at Slyth as the flail hits his sword from his hand, causing him to fall on his back.

“Hey!” I call to the large soldier.

He spins around just as I fling the sword his way. The end of it plunges deep into his face as he stumbles back and hits the ground. Slyth recovers and joins me.

“Thank you, Zalith.”

“Son!”
