But if this is the way she wants it, then so be it. I have my own worries and projects to focus on, and this drama can’t be a distraction for me. In the past few weeks, I had been wanting to buy some property in Houston - a place that has captivated me for many years now. That seems like something tangible that I could do right now and focus on instead of worrying about someone else’s choices or feelings.

I get straight down to business, and it’s with this newfound motivation that I decide it’s time to get the legal team in place. It's a bright, sunny morning in Houston and I walk in through the doors of Houston's leading mergers and acquisitions lawyers - Sangton and Sons.

I adjust my Rolex and check the dial. Bang on time, as always. I have an air of confidence surrounding me as I confidently walk into their lobby. The receptionist notices me immediately, her jaw nearly falling to the floor at the sight of me. She quickly stands up and puts out her hand politely, clearly flustered by my presence.

"Good morning Sir, Mr. Carter," she stammers nervously. "How can I help you today?" I think she sounds stupid. She knows why I'm here. Everyone at Sangton and Sons does, and I'm not oblivious to the fact that I am their biggest ticket client.

"I'm here to see Adam Sangton," I reply with a smile, trying not to show my annoyance at wasted time over this unnecessary conversation. At every other office I go to, I’m shown right into the meeting room. She nods eagerly and presses some buttons on her phone before Adam himself appears from one of the side offices. He looks relieved when he sees me, a broad grin spreading across his face as he strides forward to greet me warmly.

"Mr. Carter, welcome to Texas. How was your trip?" We exchange pleasantries, and then he leads me to a conference room. I walk in, and the room goes silent. Twelve eager, hungry, bloodthirsty lawyers stare at me.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to introduce you to Mr. Adrian Carter, our most important client. Some of you may know, Mr. Carter made a killing in the tech industry and reached a billion dollars in wealth before he was 30. Now, in his 40's, he's looking for something a little more ... traditional."

There's polite laughter in the room.

"He wants to buy over 200 acres of land to turn into the largest real estate development in Houston. We're talking huge, huge penthouses, apartments that go up by tens of millions of dollars, and a state-of-the-art helipad, clubhouse, and golf course. We're going to help him do it. Any questions?"

We go into the nitty little details, and soon enough, we're done. Adam Sangton turns to look behind me and says, "You got all the minutes down, Olivia?"

Olivia? Even before I see her, I feel her. I knew something felt familiar in this room when I had walked in, and I couldn’t exactly put a finger on it but now I know - it was the smell of her shampoo that lingered in this room. How could I forget it when my face was nuzzled in her hair, her neck, her breasts ... when I smelt it for hours straight, as I had my fingers grasping her hair to pull her closer, to inch my dick in deeper?

Olivia. Could it be?

I turn to look behind me, and I'm right. She's been sitting there, right in the corner behind me, near the screen, and I just look that way now? The curves of her body are encased in tight clothing, emphasizing every bit of sensuality that she possesses. Her deep V-neck shirt reveals ample cleavage, and the way she has her arms crossed against her chest only made my gaze linger a little longer. Such clothing should be illegal in an office.

I feel my heart start to race as I look into her eyes, and we lock gazes for what seems like an eternity in that moment. My eyes travel all over her body, taking in every detail: the perfectly shaped breasts, the tight waistline, and especially her ass which is a sight to behold. The way it curves outwards makes me want to take it into my hands and feel its softness against mine. She looks like a million bucks.

And like a deer caught in the headlights, I grin and am just about to take a step forward to greet her when she says, "Yes, Mr. Sangton. I've got everything I need. And Sir, may I please know how to spell your name just right? Is it Adrian with an ‘a’ or Adrien with an ‘e’?”

Oh, so that’s how she wants to play it?

Sangton’s face falls. He goes close to Olivia and mutters, “Olivia, don’t be careless. I sent out files on the client this morning, and the least you should have done is get the client’s name right. Next time, do your homework. This is Adrian Carter for fuck’s sake. How dare you humiliate our company like this? You sound incompetent.”

That's enough for me. I don't like the way Sangton is speaking with her. I take a step towards her, and my voice is louder than I intend it to be as I address her and make sure everyone can hear me, “It’s Adrian with an A. No need to worry about anything, Olivia; it's a common ask."

Olivia nods her head in appreciation of my attempt at making light of the situation. But Sangton looks worried now; he knows what sort of man I am, and he can feel the intensity that comes along with it. Nonetheless, he tries to stay cool and calm. “Yeah, yeah sure Mr. Carter. No worries then, let's move on."

But I don't move on. "Are you a lawyer?" I ask Olivia.

"She's a paralegal," says Sangton. Olivia is now throwing darts with her eyes. I don't know what she's thinking, but I really want to know.

"I believe she can answer for herself, Mr. Sangton."

Sangton now remains quiet. "Olivia?" I ask, gently.

"I'm a paralegal," she says. "I help out with legal documents, take notes for meetings, do research, that kind of thing ... Sir."

The way she calls me Sir upsets me. If she said it in a different context, that would be more than alright with me, but here? It feels forced. Strange. I walk towards her to greet her, and I don't know why but now, she says, loudly, "I'm sorry I didn't know who you were, Sir. If that would be all, I should get going." Clearly, she wants to pretend we don’t know each other.

She walks ... literally runs out of the room, and I can't help but watch the way her skirt moves over that tight ass.

CHAPTER 3

OLIVIA

Ican’tsleep.Mymind keeps racing back to seeing Ade … No, Adrian Carter, in my office today. I am 23 years old, and prior to Ade, I have never had a one-night stand for this reason alone. I had read enough horror stories to know that this no-strings-attached bullshit is just that … bullshit.

I can’t believe this is happening to me. I pride myself on being professional, always, but when he walked in through that door, I can’t even begin to describe the fears that overcame my logical mind. What if people find out what we did? What if, somehow, this hinders my progress at work? What would he want from me? When he looked at me like that, undressing me with his eyes, I felt pure rage. He did not have the right to look at me like I was there for his pleasure. If someone, anyone had noticed – that would have been the downfall of the reputation I had tried so hard to build.
