“No. He was shirtless this morning.”

“That’s it? As in, you saw his chest? You can go to any beach in the country and see a man’s chest.”

I smack my lips together. “Not this one.”

She grimaces. “If it doesn’t have a vagina, I don’t want it.”

And he definitely doesn’t have one of those.

Grey sweatpants leave little to the imagination.

I flush again.

“Claire,” she gasps, laughing at my reaction. I stop playing, only to hold my hands over my face, trying to hide my embarrassment, but it’s no use.

“It’s fine. I’m fine. Now that Jay-Jay is leaving, he’ll work all the time. We’ll be passing ships.”

“In the night,” she finishes.

I blow out a breath, frustrated with my lack of control and lack of orgasms today.

“I can’t go there. That would be a shit show waiting to happen. Besides, he’s married.”

She blinks slowly.

Then again.

“I’m pretty sure thetill death do us partapplies here.”

“I don’t think it applies to him.”

His life’s purpose is Jess.

I wish it didn’t make my heart melt for him, but it does.

I almost get lost in another daydream when she waves her phone at me. “You forgot to text him.”

Reluctantly, I pluck my phone from my pocket.

Three unread messages.

He’s over the top.

Jake: Did you arrive?

Jake: You’ll be the death of me.

Jake: I’m getting in my car.

Shit.

Me: Stay at home. I got seduced by a piano. I arrived at my destination at 14:00. Over and out.

Jake: I don’t appreciate your tone.

Me: You can’t determine a tone over a text message.

Jake: With you, I can. Text me when you leave.
