I chew my lip between my teeth. “But it’s so much fun doing it wrong.”

His jaw tenses as he grinds down before pulling my lip away from the hold of my bite.

“Trouble,” he warns.

He takes a step back, cold air taking his place.

I shift on my feet to ease the ache between my legs.

It’s been over a year.

Give a girl a break.

There was never another when I was away. How could there be when this is how he makes me feel?

“Eight o’clock tomorrow night,” he says, shoulders still rising and falling erratically.

Confused, I ask. “What’s going on tomorrow night?”

“Come to dinner with me?”

The air leaves my lungs in a fractured exhale, and I try to smile. “Are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Williams?”

“Yes, Ms. Russell, I am.”

Teasing, I rock back and forth. “I thought you didn’t date?”

He reaches out and grabs my hand, pulling me to him. His thumb traces the blush on my cheeks.

“I want this one. I want all the dates after. I wanted you yesterday. I want you today. I want your every tomorrow. Because you’re mine. You’ll always be mine. And since I saw you this evening, I’ve been wondering how long is appropriate before I ask my son’s music teacher on a date.”

Farewell heart.

“I think almost two years is reasonable.”

Lips tingling to taste him, I stretch on my tiptoes, but he rears back with that smug smirk I love so much.

“If we’re doing this, I have rules.”

My heart sinks.

“Jake—”

“I don’t want one night. I want every night. I want to kiss you every damn time I like. And I’m going to fall in love with you every day.”

“I like these rules.”

Finally, his lips are on mine, so deliriously happy—I’m dizzy.

Taking my hand, he spins me around, and in his arms, we dance.

We don’t have any music, but we don’t need it.

The world keeps spinning.

And it never stops.
