He looked like he was maybe in his early 30s, but it was hard to tell. He had light sandy blonde hair, that was just a little too long as if he needed a trim, light blue eyes, and a sharp jawline that was partially obscured by a nicely trimmed beard. Behind him stood two other men, both just as handsome. The taller one was also blonde and looked a lot like the man who opened the door but younger, though his hair was longer, they had very similar features and were probably related.

The third man was the one who really caught her attention. He was tall too, but he had dark brown hair that was a bit untamed, and slightly wavy, he had bright blue eyes, and a five o’clock shadow, like he forgot to shave today. He also had tattoos covering what she could see of his right arm.

When their eyes met, she was stuck, like a bee in honey. She never wanted to look away. It was weird, like something just clicked and she needed to go to him. She started to take a step toward him when the wolf who escorted her in spoke.

“Chris, I tried to mind link you, but you blocked me out. This woman came to the gate and asked for you. Says her name is Mackenzie Lord.”

As he said her name, the other men’s faces changed into ones of shock. Well, guess she’d surprised them. No one moved.

Then as if unfrozen, the man with dark hair cleared his throat and took a step forward, “Thank you Jordan, we’ll take it from here. Miss, will you please come in?”

Kenzie saw Jordan nod from the corner of her eye and back away. She took another deep breath to prepare herself for what came next and took a step forward, then another and another until she was inside the office. She heard the door shut behind her and figured the wolf had closed it. Jordan was the name this dark man called him. It seemed fitting.

When she breathed in, she smelled this sweet almond and chocolate mixed with a woodsy scent. It was intoxicating and all she wanted to do was follow the scent. Then she realized it was the man who had spoken. She shook her head to try to clear it.

Wringing her hands together to distract herself, she looked at the three men standing in front of her. Well, guess they weren’t going to say anything, so it was up to her.

“Hi. Um, as Jordan said, my name is Mackenzie. I’m looking for Christopher Blake. He’s um... Well, he’s my father actually.” After a few moments, no one said anything, and she started getting nervous again.

As she was about to speak again, the dark-haired man finally spoke up, “I’m sorry for our manners, we are just a bit surprised. My name is Aiden Matthews, and I am the Beta of this pack. This here is Alpha Marshall Blake and his father, your father, Christopher Blake.”

When he said their names, it was like he brought them out of their stupors. Shaking his head, the younger man Marshall, walked over to her slowly, “As Aiden said, I’m sorry. You gave us a bit of a shock. I’m Marshall, your twin brother.”

Gasping, she dropped her purse and stumbled back a step, almost falling. Marshall quickly reached forward to grab her, so she didn’t topple over. As he did, a slight jolt went up her arms where his hands met with skin. Once she was steady on her feet, he released her, shaking out his hands as if he felt the shock too.

With a sheepish smile, he said, “Static, sorry.”

Kenzie didn’t care about the shock. She had a brother? “I… I didn’t know. You… You’re…” Taking a beath to stop her stuttering, she tried again, “You’re really my twin brother?”

He simply nodded, giving her a big smile. And in the smile, she could see it so clearly. They looked so different in color but that smile, it was the same one she had, the same dimple in his left cheek that she had. The rest of him though, looked so different. This time she studied him a little closer.

He had sandy blond hair like the other man but looking now it was a shade lighter. He also had it longer on the top and styled back with the sides shaved. He had a nicely trimmed beard that was just a bit longer than the older mans, but there were subtle things that she could see they shared. Like the shape of their eyes and their lips, and again she noticed the dimple in his left cheek so similar to the one she had.

Without further thought she launched herself at him, throwing her arms around his shoulders in a tight hug. He didn’t hesitate in catching her, hugging her back just as tight. “Ah little sister, I’ve waited so long to meet you.”

Kenzie squeezed him a little tighter for a moment, then pulled back just a bit so that she could see his face. “You knew about me? And if we are twins, how am I your little sister?”

Smiling again, he nodded. “Yes, I’ve known about you my whole life, but Dad thought you would be safer with Megan, so we let you live your life with her. And you are my little sister because I am eleven minutes older than you. And you’re really tiny!”

Laughing, she pulled away from him, “I’m not that small! And safe from what?”

With that question, the other man stepped forward. This man was Christopher, her father.

“That is a big question, with a hard answer. Most of it though, is that we don’t know.” Pausing to take in her face, he walked a little closer. Pulling Kenzie away from Marshall, he took both of her hands in his, “You look so much like your mother. You are so beautiful.”

Then he pulled her into a gentle hug. Hugging him back felt so right. She had a family she never knew about, and instantly felt connected to both Marshall and Christopher. It was odd, like it was instinctive or something. Somehow, she knew she could trust them.

He pulled back, and placed his hands gently on her cheeks, “Welcome home Mackenzie.”

Chapter 5.

Mackenzie

Christopher led her over to a black leather couch, and gently pulled her down next to him, “I will try to explain everything as best as I can if you want to hear it?”

“Yes, of course.” As she took the seat next to Christopher, Marshall walked over to a cabinet that she hadn’t noticed before.

Looking back at her as he opens the door, he asks, “Would you like something to drink?”
