“What the fuck?” His watch told him it was five thirty a.m. He’d slept all night. When was the last time that had happened?

“Ford?”

Looking down again, he locked on to the sleep-filled eyes of Autumn Harris.

“Hey.”

“Hey.” Her eyes went to the window.

“It’s still early.” His body stirred as she moved that sweet ass against his groin.

“Thank you for looking after me, Ford.”

“Welcome.”

“I— We—”

“I know.” And he did. They shouldn’t do this, but right then no one could have stopped him. Lowering his head, he kissed her. One taste and he wanted to devour her. Lose himself in all that lush heat. He was hard in seconds, and any rational thought he might have had was gone as she moved up his body and soon lay pressed to him.

“We shouldn’t do this,” he whispered.

“I know.”

The next kiss was almost savage. Teeth clashing, tongues twining.

Sliding his hand down her spine, he cupped a round ass cheek and pulled her closer. Ford slid a hand under her shirt and up over the curve of her spine.

He wanted to possess her. Mark her as his, and he had no right to that, but fuck, did he want it. Want her.

His hand reached for her breast. Full, the nipple tight under his palm. She shuddered as he squeezed the warm flesh gently.

“I want to be inside you.”

“Yes,” she whispered as he teased her hard nipple.

Ford’s hand moved lower, one of his fingers tracing the edge of her panties. He could feel her heat. Feel the dampness through the fabric.

A loud bang had them both freezing. Kismet let out a bark. Autumn got off him so fast he wasn’t sure how she achieved it. She disappeared through the door, leaving him to right the chair and get to his feet.

When she came back, her eyes wouldn’t meet his.

“I… It wasn’t inside, so it must have been a neighbor. Ritchie’s still asleep.” She bent to pet the dog.

“I need to get back. I start work early.” His body was on fire. He wanted to strip her and feast on those curves. Make her moan and sigh. Make her call his name. He wanted her begging beneath him.

“Okay. Want me to make you a coffee to go?”

Panic joined the fire running through his body. What the hell was happening? He’d just slept a full night for the first time in forever, with a woman in his arms. Not just any woman, but sexy Autumn Harris, and then he’d nearly made love to her, and now she wanted to make him coffee.

“I don’t need coffee.”

Her brows rose at his gruff tone. “Okay.”

“I need to go.”

“I’m sorry.”

“For what?” He didn’t snap out the words, but it was close.
