He placed his finger under my chin and lifted my head up to look at him.

Goddess, he was perfect. His brown eyes were so warm. His face was so gentle, but then again so sharp. He let his beard grow out a bit and it only added to his beauty. I could look at him all day long.

He started to lean in, and my heart started beating faster. He was going to kiss me!

His lips gently touched mine and sparks flew down my body. I closed my eyes and kissed him back. The kiss was gentle, loving and so sweet.

And it was over too soon.

He stopped kissing me and pressed his forehead against mine.

“Goddess, I wanted to do that for so long,” he whispered. “You taste even better than you smell.”

I opened my eyes and moved my head to look at him.

“Are you sleeping here with me?” I asked him before I lost my courage.

He smiled brightly and nodded.

He leaned in to give me a small kiss before he stood up and walked to the bathroom.

“First one to shower,” he chuckled.

“You are not playing fair,” I told him.

“You have to be faster, love,” he shouted from the bathroom.

I laughed and shook my head. I stood up and walked over to my closet to make sure I packed everything I needed.

Tomorrow I will finally see Cassie and Jake again.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT – Leaving

Gabriel’s POV

I kept glancing at Aria while driving. She was fidgeting nervously in her seat.

We have been driving for about four hours now. We stopped a few times to go to the bathroom and grab some coffee.

“Will you stop doing that?” I mumbled and placed my hand on Aria’s thigh.

She was in the passenger seat next to me. Nick and Annie were sitting in the back. Annie was sitting behind me and Nick behind Aria.

“Sorry,” she mumbled. “I am nervous.”

“It’s going to go great, A,” Annie said. “Don’t worry.”

“What if they are angry at me?” she said quietly, glancing out the passenger side window.

“Why would they be angry at you?” I asked, surprised.

“Well, I disappeared,” she sighed and turned to me. “I never got a chance to explain why. And I am pretty sure my grandma didn’t tell them anything. What if they are angry about me leaving without saying a word and they refuse to let me explain?”

Nick leaned in and wrapped his hands around Aria from behind. She calmed down slightly.

“First of all, please stop calling that woman grandma,” I said through my teeth. “Second of all, they are not angry. They will be so happy to see you.”

She gave me a small smile and looked back out the window.
