Alex said, “You’ll need a car from the San Jose airport, I’ll get it rented.”

Jack looked up from his computer. “Okay, girls and boys, here’s Cal and Lauren’s new identification: They’re going in as Jim and Emma Anderson. I’ll have their driver license intel over to your laptop in a minute, Alex, because you’ll need to give that info to the online car rental agency. I’ll also send you four credit cards in Jim and Emma Anderson’s names.”

Nodding, Alex said, “Excellent.” He grinned and rubbed his hands together. “I have a good feeling about this. I believe this doctor will be able to identify one of them.”

Cal hoped like hell it was Sky. But what the HELL was a fertility specialist doing in the mix? It made NO sense to him at all, but he kept his thoughts to himself.

July 11

Allegra was shockedwhen Don Tobar walked into her office at nine a.m. the next morning. Her assistant was running after him, upset, trying to stop him. “It’s all right, Maria. Please let my next patient know I will be a few minutes late while I speak to Don Tobar?”

“Yes, Doctor. I’m sorry,” Maria said, her voice tight, her glare scathing at the intruder who pushed by her.

Yerik ignored the upset assistant, his gaze trained on the doctor who sat behind her massive mahogany desk. He sat down and waited until the door closed. “I’m not happy with you, Dr. Zapata.”

Allegra pushed a file aside, her heart beating harder in her chest beneath her white lab coat. There was a dangerous feeling around this man. “And I could say the same of you. You cannot just walk in here, unannounced, without an appointment. I have twelve patients I must see today.”

Alexandrov crossed his legs. He’d flown in earlier in his helicopter. Wearing an expensive gray Armani suit, a white silk shirt with platinum cufflinks, and a Golden Ellipse Platinum watch by Patek Philippe. His tie was a tasteful dark blue silk to match the watch’s face. “Now, good doctor, I will make this brief. Have you read Sky’s lab report yet?”

“No,” Allegra lied, frowning. Her skin crawled again. The man’s eyes were a forest green, slitted upon her. She felt hunted. “I told you I would read them today. I just got in the office,” and she placed her hand on Sky’s file that had all the results.

“Quite right, doctor.” Yerik waved his manicured hand. “I’ll get straight to the point. I want my semen, which you will collect at the appropriate time, inserted into Sky, and I want you to get her pregnant.”

Opening the file, Allegra didn’t show her surprise. Instead, she said, “Don Tobar, you need to know she is ALREADY pregnant.”

Yerik’s eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about?”

“Sky’s blood and urine tests confirm she’s about one and a half month’s pregnant.” Allegra looked up at him. “I assumed you knew this?”

Yerik froze, stunned by the information. His mouth thinned. “Then you will abort it. I want her pregnant by ME.”

“But…,” she said, opening her hands, “I ASSUMED she was pregnant by you. That you already had some kind of relationship?”

Waving his hand dismissively, Yerik said, “Sky has decided to throw her lot in life with me. She knows I want a child from her.”

Blinking, Allegra stared at him. “When my nurse took Sky’s information, she made no mention of being pregnant.”

Shrugging, Yerik murmured, “Maybe she did not know? That is very early in a pregnancy, doctor.”

“Yes, I suppose that is possible,” Allegra admitted. “May I enquire as to your relationship with her?”

“No, you may not. I’m a very wealthy man and I don’t like headlines about me or my private life. So, when can you do this?”

Hesitating, Allegra’s mind spun. She sensed he was lying. “Don Tobar, to do this, I need to talk to Sky much more thoroughly than that examine I gave her a week ago. In our country, abortion is allowed ONLY if the woman’s life is in danger, or the fetus is in danger or has not developed properly.”

“I want her to carry my son,” Yerik growled. “She’s young, healthy, and I’m sure, very capable of doing just that. How soon after the abortion can she be ready to be impregnated with my semen?”

“Have you tried this method before? Has she suffered a miscarriage previously? Sky obviously has no issue in getting pregnant. There are all kinds of hormonal tests I must do first. Generally, after an abortion, it takes a woman’s body about one to three months to return to normal, to ovulate, so that her egg can be fertilized and she becomes pregnant once again.”

Yerik said, “I want this done as quickly as possible.” He saw the doctor frown, confusion in her eyes. “I want you to impregnate her with my semen.” Yerik saw the doctor become upset, her brows drawing down, a slight tremble in her fingers as she brought over a pad and pen to make notes. He sensed she was not trusting or believing him.

“This is highly irregular, Don Tobar. Normally, the woman comes in and requests an abortion, not the man in her life. Are you married? Living together? There are many things I must know before I can do this. Because the woman must sign a great deal of legal and medical paperwork beforehand—”

Yerik gave her a cold smile. “Doctor, you will do as I request,” he told her quietly. “Because if you do not show up within the next five days to do this, I will ensure your two beautiful little daughters are kidnapped.” Yerik glared at her. “You will never see them again. Do I make myself clear?”

Allegra gasped, coming halfway out of her chair, and then quickly sitting down. “Who are YOU to threaten ME?” she demanded in a low, furious tone.

Yerik smiled a little and rose. He looked at his watch. “As I promised, doctor, I will not take up much of your time. I expect you at La Paloma villa in five days. I want Sky to carry my son. And if you need a little persuasion, I advise you to pick up your phone, call your house maid, and asked if she can find Belicia, your daughter.”
