But her gaze was drawn to the note in the sand. It was only two words. Two very important words.

Spelled out in rocks, it read:Marry Me.

Josie gasped. Her heart pounded, echoing in her ears. This is happening. This is really happening. It felt like a dream—a dream she never wanted to wake up from.

Her gaze moved to Lane. He smiled back at her and nodded. He wanted to marry her? She rushed over to him. He handed her the rose.

Before she could say anything, he dropped down on one knee. In his hand he produced a little white ring box from his pocket. He opened it. The evening sun’s rays caught on the large diamond, making it sparkle.

He gazed up at her. “Jo, you have changed my life since the day we met on this island. I never knew how alone I was until you showed me what it was like to let someone into my life. You’ve taught me to trust and to love. You’re the sunshine in my life. I love you with all of my heart. Will you marry me?”

Happy tears streamed down her face. She felt the same about him. “I will. I love you too.”

He slipped the ring onto her finger and then he stood, pulling her into his arms. He gazed deep into her eyes. “You’ve made me the happiest man in the world.”

“And I’m the happiest woman. I love you.”

“I love you too.”
