A throat clears and the bubble bursts. My eyes snap open, and I try to bolt, but Ezra’s arms tighten around me. I jerk my head toward the entrance, finding Archer standing there with his eyebrows low over his eyes and his hands in his pockets. I try to leave Ezra’s arms again, but he doesn’t let me.

Instead, he tightens his hold even more, then kisses my neck before biting it. I squeak, my eyes locked with Archer’s. Ezra’s teeth sink in further and he presses into my ass, grinding against me.

Surely he heard Archer?

Archer clears his throat again, shifting from foot to foot, looking uncomfortable. That’s all it takes to clear my head and realize what the fuck is happening. I slap Ezra’s wrist and he chuckles low in my ear before letting go. I wipe at my neck, but feel a mark already starting to bloom.

“Hey, Arch,” I say breathlessly.

“Sorry to interrupt,” he says awkwardly.

“You’re not interrupting,” I say.

“No, you are,” Ezra says dryly. “What do you want?” I whirl toward him, finding him glaring at Archer. I stare at him, waiting for him to laugh or apologize for being rude, but he doesn’t. He just lifts his brows impatiently. “Well?”

“Belfast called and said he’s been trying to get ahold of you,” he says, sounding irritated. “You know, I have better shit to do with my time than hunt you down.”

“Yeah? Like what?” Ezra challenges. He folds his arms over his chest as he tilts his head back. “You have an appointment to get your asshole bleached?”

“Kiwi,” I hiss.

“Why? You wanna see?” Archer retorts and I snap my head to him.

“Nah, I’m good, mate,” he says. “But if you’re down to show just anyone your ass, I’m sure the homeless guy out back would love a taste.”

“Know that from personal experience, do you?”

“Nah, but your mom told me he’s real talented with his tongue.”

I drop my head back and squeeze my eyes shut. Men never really grow up from boys, do they? I hold my breath, waiting for one of them to take the first swing, but to my utter fucking surprise, Acher laughs.

I stare at him like he’s lost his fucking mind.

Then Ezra laughs, and I stare at him like he’s lost his mind too. Which, to be fair, he probably has.

“Gotta say, I haven’t heard ayour momjoke in at least a decade,” Archer says.

“It’s a classic.” Ezra shrugs, still grinning.

“What the actual fuck,” I mutter as I look between them. “You know what? As long as no one is getting killed, I don’t give a shit.” I throw my hands up. “Become best friends for all I care.”

“Does that mean we can compare notes?” Ezra says, and I whirl to glare at him again. Archer stays silent behind me, but I can feel his gaze stabbing into the back of my head.

“Really?” I snap. “Are you fucking kidding me? It’s been less than an hour—this is what I was talking about, Kiwi. You just wanted bragging rights.” I shake my head. “I can’t believe I was so fucking stupid.”

I open and close my hands a few times before storming off to the back of the bar. Both men call out for me, but neither of them follow. I won’t lie—it hurts that they don’t. But I should’ve expected it.

Apart from some light flirting, I can’t count on Archer for anything major. And emotions fall into the major category. And with Kiwi—I don’t even know. I just thought he would be different.

I thought…

I don’t know what I thought.

I slam the door to the storeroom and wipe roughly at my cheek, annoyed that he could make me cry. But I thought he was different. I thought he’d be the one guy I could count on to not make me feel cheap. But I should’ve known better. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t think about anyone but himself. He just does what he wants, and doesn’t give a fuck who he hurts in the process.

Kiwi

“What the fuck?” I breathe as I watch Kennedy storm away. I glance at Archer, finding him staring after her, too. “What just happened?” He turns and glares at me, which makes me even more fucking confused. “What?”
