“How?” Addie moves in front of him and Bash and I flank her, ready to intervene any second. “Start talking.” She’s the only pregnant woman in the club right now, and we would all protect her with our lives. She’s not only Bash’s Old Lady, but she’s his equal. It’s never happened in this club before, but she’s changing shit. She has my respect.

“The girls–your girls, they’re not on a real auction list.” Jackson slumps against the chair again. “It was a distraction.”

“Why did they need us distracted?” she asks darkly.

“Think about it.” He grins, his lips parting to reveal his bloody teeth. “If you’re focused on this, what are you ignoring?” Bash and Addie look at each other, and I glance up, my eyes finding Reid’s.

“I don’t know,” she breathes. “What are we missing?”

“The rat,” Bash says. I lower my eyes back to Jackson, finding him still smiling. “Who is it?”

“Don’t know his real name,” he says. “But he’s new around here.”

“Fuck,” Reid groans, and I find his eyes again. “There’s five Prospects and three we just patched in. Could be any one of them.”

My mind races through names and faces. Who the fuck could it be? I’ve had my suspicions about a few but haven’t voiced them. I’ll kill anyone, but I won’t kill an innocent.

“What’s he look like?” Bash asks.

“Never saw him, only heard his voice.” Jackson spits blood onto the floor beside him.

“Where do they take the girls?” Ryder asks. My eyes stay on Reid’s, and he gives me a small nod–one I don’t understand. Then I lower my eyes to Jackson again, finding him staring at Ry. I take a small step forward, my hands clenching and releasing at my sides.

Who the fuck is the rat?

I bring my phone out and start scrolling through Prospect and patched members' photos. One of these fucks betrayed us. They have to die. There’s no way around that. They put our women in danger, they put baby Skye in danger.

I’m going to fucking slaughter whoever it is.

“L.A,” he says.

“We know that already,” Ryder spits. “Where in L.A.?”

“Look for any buildings with the name Carmichael attached to them,” he says.

“He’s the real ringleader.” The room gets eerily silent, the only sound my heavy breathing as I step forward.

“Any of these fucks look familiar?” I shove my phone in his face and scroll through the photos.

“I told you, I haven’t seen him,” he says. “Only heard him.” I glance at Bash, and he shakes his head, telling me to stand down. But I don’t want to fucking stand down. I want to fucking kill him. I want to kill the rat. I want to fucking murder anyone who has ever looked at my Brothers and their girls wrong. I want to take down the entire fucking ring.

“What are we missing?” Addie asks, drawing everyone’s attention. “What are we ignoring?”

“Everything,” Jackson says. “If you’re focused on this, on trying to get their names off that list, you’re not paying attention to the girls who are really on the list. How many of them have been taken since you started looking into this?” He looks to Bash, and I take a small step toward my Prez, ready to protect him. “How many of those girls’ blood is on your hands, Bash? How many have you let die because you haven’t focused on anything else?”

“Enough,” Addie snarls, slicing her hand through the air. She tries to step forward, but I wrap my hand around her arm, holding her in place. “You can’t blame him for the shit you’ve done.” She easily pulls her wrist from my grasp and jams her finger into the center of Jackson’s chest. “You can’t blame him for the girls you’ve kidnapped, sold, or killed. You’re the fucking monster here, not him. Stop speaking in circles and tell me what the fuck we’re missing.”

“Bash knows,” he says, jerking his chin at Bash. He looks so fucking smug I want to slice his face off. “Don’t you?” His words hit me a moment later and I turn my attention to Bash. He’s pale as he stares back at Jackson, his eyes haunted.

“Bash? What’s he talking about?” Addie steps toward him warily. “What do you know?”

We leave the room quickly and head to the Chapel. Reid stays by my side, his shoulder pressing against mine. “What the fuck is happening?” he whispers low enough for only me to hear. “You don’t think Bash has betrayed us, do you?” I snap my eyes to him, finding him staring at his brother with a guarded look.

“No,” I say flatly. “Bash wouldn’t.”

“You sure?”

It pisses me off that he’s questioning our Prez. But it’s pissing me off more that he’s making me question him, too.
