“You’ll never lose me,” I say. “No matter what, you willneverlose me.” It might take a second to get used to Ian and Enzo dating, but Ian is still my son. I’ll get used to it. With that thought, I pull away from him and he looks up at me. “We need to talk about rules.” Slowly, his brows push together. “Get Enzo.” I jerk my chin toward the door and he slowly rises.

“Why?”

“Now that you’re together, things have changed a bit.” His eyes widen and I sigh. “We need to figure out sleeping arrangements.”

“But—”

“I wouldn’t allow you to have your girlfriend sleep in your room with you. Why would you think I’d allow your boyfriend to sleep with you?” I lift my brows and his face heats. “Please.” I jerk my head toward the door again, and he hurries to his room.

I sigh as I comb my fingers through my hair. Of all the things I thought were wrong, this was not it. The only thing that bothers me is that he was scared to tell me. Have I done something to make him think he couldn’t trust me? Did I make him believe that I wouldn’t love him over something like this?

The front door opens and Raspy’s excited breathing and jingling collar fill the apartment. I smile to myself and move across the room before poking my head into the hallway. Ezra’s eyes meet mine as he slides his cut off, tossing it on the couch.

Ian’s door suddenly opens and the boys stop, their eyes wide as they stare at me.

“Do you want Ezra in here for this?” I ask, flicking my eyes between them. Enzo looks up at Ian, and there’s something in his eyes, something I’ve never seen that makes my heart swell.

“Um, yeah. Sure.” Ian tries to play it off like he’s not freaking out, but I know my son and this is him freaking out.

“You sure?” I ask, narrowing my eyes. He nods a few times and looks around me, his tension leaving him at whatever he sees on Ezra’s face. “Living room, then.”

I head down the hall, stopping when I get to Ezra, and he wraps his arm around my waist. He lowers his mouth to me, kissing the top of my head. “How did it go?”

“It’s not over yet,” I say. “Back me up, please. I don’t need you trying to make light of anything.” His brows bunch.

“You’re—”

“Not upset,” I say. “But if they’re together, I don’t exactly want them in the same room together all night.” His face relaxes and his lips twitch.

“Right,” he breathes. “You know they’ll still—”

“I know,” I say, holding my hand up. “I know.”

Ian and Enzo sit on the couch beside each other and Raspy jumps between them. He paws at Ian’s arm until he rests his hand on Raspy’s back. Enzo looks terrified, and Ian looks…well, he looks terrified too.

“Okay,” I breathe, looking between them. “I don’t even know where to start.” I run my fingers through my hair as I pace in front of them. “Do you have condoms?”

Every man in the room chokes.

“What?” Ian croaks, his face red.

“You should be safe, no matter who you’re sleeping with,” I say.

“Oh my God,” he groans. “Can we not—”

“Your mom is right,” Ezra says as he steps beside me. “You can still catch something, so condoms—”

“We’re clean,” Enzo says, glancing at Ian. Ezra shrugs as he slides his hands into his pockets.

“And if you ever decide to sleep with someone other than each other, you need to know to be safe,” he says. Ian’s face is buried in his hands, not looking at anyone.

“So,” I say hesitantly. I didn’t think this was how I was going to have the sex talk with my kid, but here we are. “Do you have—”

“Yes, Mom,” Ian groans. “God, please stop talking about my sex life.”

“A few more things,” I say, wincing. Finally, he lifts his head and gives me a pleading look. “Sorry, kid.”

“What else?” Enzo asks.
