I would have struggled to recall my own name with Gabe touching me like this, yet alone a movie. “I don’t know. I don’t care. Put something on. Anything. For God’s sake. Choose something before midnight.”

Frankie snorted. “Wow. Calm down. It’s only a movie.”

Gabe chuckled darkly and eased my knickers aside, slipping a cool finger inside me and curling upward. I smothered my moan.

“What?” Frankie said, frowning.

“Home Alone,” Gabe said smoothly. He held his hand perfectly still. “That’s one, isn’t it? The little kid is left when his parents go away.”

Frankie raised an impressed eyebrow. “You do know one! That’s good. I’d go for that.”

“Yep, me too,” Elliot said.

“Home Alone 2is better,” Reece said.

“Don’t be ridiculous, Reece.Home Aloneit is,” Mum said.

Everybody turned their attention back to the TV. My body sagged with relief. Gabe’s smooth circles turned to firm strokes. He added a second finger, easing in and out in painfully slow thrusts. The tension building inside of me was too much. I had to keep still instead of chasing my building orgasm. Every part of me was taut. A pressure cooker ready to bubble over.

Gabe turned his face, his stubble grazing my cheek, his warm breath fanning my neck and his expensive spicy cologne filling my senses. I curled into his firm chest; his heart pounded against my back. It was beating as fast as mine. I needed him to go faster, but I couldn’t ask, and it would have drawn attention to us anyway. The need to come was a divine, unbearable torture. A slow, delicious death by an impending climax I couldn’t chase.

Just when I thought I couldn’t handle another second, the most intense, shuddering release ripped through me. I bit my lip so hard it throbbed with a pulse. My fingernails dug into the side of Gabe’s thighs, but he didn’t flinch. I bit harder on my lip, trying to keep in my desperate whimper. He held his fingers inside of me, filling me while my body shuddered in intense waves around him and I tried desperately not to make it obvious. He worked me through every quiver and tremble before my body went limp.

Lazily, he pulled his hand from under the blanket. His eyes locked with mine as he put his index finger into his mouth and sucked it clean. A suggestive smile lit his face. Oh God. I twisted my head to the couch, but everybody was too engrossed in the film to notice. He nipped my earlobe lightly with his teeth and whispered, “Very good, Little Swan.”

I felt the smile on his lips when he pressed a kiss against my neck.

Later, after the film, Gabe poked a finger through the blinds in the living room and frowned.

“What is it?” Mum asked.

“Snow’s getting thick out there. I’d better call my driver.”

Snow covered the street, thick and white like icing on a perfect wedding cake.

Mum rolled her wheelchair forward. “Why don’t you stay, Gabe? Give the poor man a night off. It’s Christmas.”

Gabe pulled out his phone. “I wouldn’t want to put you out. Karl knew I’d need him tonight.”

Mum frowned. “It’s no problem. The boys can share a room and we can make up the spare.”

I shot him an apologetic glance. “Mum, Gabe has the penthouse suite at the Beaufort. We’ve talked about this. He doesn’t want to stay in our box room.”

Gabe’s gaze roved over me and he pocketed his phone. “Actually, it might be a good idea. The snow is so heavy. I’m sure Karl would appreciate the time off.” He flashed me a smile and a glint glimmered in his eyes. “Besides, I already have my pajamas on.”

Chapter 31

Miri

Thespareroomwaslittle more than a box with a single bed so small Gabe’s feet would be hanging off the end, but judging by the endless stream of compliments he threw at my mum, you would have thought he was staying at the Ritz. He complimented Mum on everything from her choice of teacups to the books on the nightstand. Mum wasn’t always easy to win over, but she was about ready to kick all her own kids out of the house and adopt Gabe instead.

I shut my eyes and tried to relax the tenseness that made my muscles stiff. I’d showered before bed, washing away the traces of Gabe’s touch on my body. How had I let things get so out of control? This wasn’t me. I’d had one serious boyfriend and I’d waited for months to sleep with him. Jed had been a missionary-and-lights-off type. Never in a million years did I imagine myself being so turned on by a man that I’d take the risks I had. One glance from him and I lost all sense.

There were so many reasons why I shouldn’t have let any of this happen, but I’d been powerless to resist him. With Gabe in the spare room and everybody else gone to bed, I tried to relax in my own bed. A weak flash of light filled the pitch-black room. My phone vibrated on the nightstand.

“Are you asleep?” A message from Gabe.

I should have ignored it, but I texted back. “Yes. Fast asleep.”
